Johnny Fairplay Wrote:For your information, the people I know on here from Pburg have praised WMDJ, they have done as many of the Cats games as Q-95. The only one that had anything bad to say about WMDJ was from the South Floyd area. Next time try to now what you talking about before you accuse people of saying negative things.
You are correct, I started the thread and my favs are Jamin Jamey and Tommy and guess what. I am a Pburg person! I just think they are the best, they speak clearly, thier comments make sense. The times I have listenend they have been very objective.

WMDJ announcers are sometimes a little vocal and they may say a few things that are off the wall but they are pretty loyal to the 58th and alot enjoy hearing them. That is not to say that they are not followers of the rest of the 15th in support of our schools. I don't know what or even if the announcers for many of these stations receive very much for working extra or even if they would want anything as far as money is concerned or anything for that matter. They mostly do the games for their love of basketball and to help get the kids names out there for many of the listeners that can't make it to the gyms for one reason or another. My mother in law is a hundred and eight or so it seems and she listens to every broadcast by Jamey and tommy. I don't agree with every comment that is made but they really do have a love for what they do and it is brought out in the broadcasts. I was at a game last night and near enough to hear the crew and they got me a little excited. I remember when the only time in Floyd county basketball, It was done by Ollie Robinson and his comments were also sometimes pretty good. We are lucky to have our stations around the mountains carrying local high school games. Many of the younger generation would have played sports with never being on radio or WPRG TV. My goodness they carried the Middle School championship live last night in Floyd County. I have at times been a bit concerned with what is said and after a little time to think, I go back to what if no one was there to say anything. I appreciate all they do and hopefully people like Dale McKinney, Adam Gearheart, Gormy Collins and the other owners of the radio stations continue to support our schools in the mountain area. They do it for the kids.

I've heard girls Volley Ball games, Grade School football and basketball championship games along with the H.S. games announced on the Pike County stations. Let me just say that No matter how good a broadcast team is, they should all be thanked for carring games on the air.

I have never heard him...He probably is very good...I've heard some folks say LC had a good crew.
I was just stating an opinion about some writers I have heard try to do radio have real trouble conveying the same info.
Also, I was trying to keep the thread on topic as some members will read one word in a post, ie.writer and think the topic is wide open.
Why not open a new thread about sports writers??

Good post.
I am like Wyatt I grew up listening to C. Ollie, doing High school, Caywood doing the Cats, and the Old Left Hander doing the Reds games, and They are the watermark which I gauge everyone on. To this day i still laugh when I think about C. Ollie discriptions of events, He had his own way of making you feel as though you were there.
I really liked Jim Ed Allen as announcer, and as a friend, I never could say that about Joe bach, Jim Ed tried to be neutral and Joe was Joe. I still remember when they got into it on the air and came to blows, I almost split my sides I laughed so hard, seeing them take of their headsets and square off.
Todays announcers that I listen to the most are Jaimie and Tommy, and Spike and Danny. I have known both duos for quite sometime, they speak their minds, cover a lot of teams, and tell it as they see it. I am a fan like most others sometimes I agree with what they say, sometimes I don't, thats the nature of the beast.
I am glad that the 15th has the coverage that we have now, as I said I may not always see things as they do, but at least these people provide us for a reason to complain when they don't see it our way.
Im just glad that we actually have a reason to complain
