Mayfield 28 Corbin 14
#31
Both teams had several turnover at crucial time. I think the drop pass by Corbin with 7.38 to play in the 4th qtr. Was the turning point in the game when it was tie 14-14. Mayfield is good but Cal-Preps never predict this game to be tie late in the 4th.....Just saying.

As long as we keep winning, I will be fine. Sometimes when you have a star skill player go down it takes some time to get your offense rolling again. Until then, our forgotten boys on the other side of the ball will just have to step it up.

Mayfield back-up RB Shauntrez Tyler is the best RB I have seen play this year. Mayfield is loaded with speed. Speed kills :worthy:

What Mayfield lacks in size, they make up for in speed. That, and the fact they can pass the ball effectively. There are times when Mayfield will have trouble running the ball against bigger, more physical teams, but, because they can pass the ball to some speedy WRs and there RBs can catch it out of the backfield, and get them in open space, they can adjust to it and stay in a lot of games that probably they shouldn't.. Plus, their defense doesn't get their due sometimes, especially the LBs.. All 4 of their LBs are fast and can cover from sideline to sideline and the entire D are typically sound tacklers and fundamentally sound in their sets.

Mayfield always has great team speed. It is one of the reasons they win year in and year out.
#36
Hopefully we will have one of those linebackers back soon.

Congrats Mayfield on the win. You guys had the Better-Faster team as I suspected you would. Better effort by the hounds, however.... If the Center, and Oline don't get something figured out soon then the team will be in trouble on atleast 2 of the remaining 4 games. I'm not like everyone else when they carry on that games you lose don't matter. District or not, when you lose it still effects everything and everyone associated with the team. Corbin needs to step up, we aren't gonna get any faster or stronger as far as this year goes, so fundamental and very few mistakes are a must.. But, the playmakers and leaders of this team need to step up a lot if they plan on makin a run in November. Speed kills, Corbin has very little.... A well oiled, disciplined team is what it takes to neutralize the speed.
Again, congrats Cardinals! Anxiously awaiting the '16 rematch.

Good luck to you all. I had a great time even with the rain.

You are just mad cause you missed the scoring margin by 31 points.

Congrats to Corbin for making this a ball game for as long as they did. I expected Mayfielda speed to leave Corbin in the dust and instead it took all 4 quarters for the Cards to put the Hounds away.

Here's hoping Corbin can stop with the self inflicted wounds and be ready to beat Bell in a few weeks. I still have faith in a Corbin - Befry semi

Corbin has great size and are physically imposing. They just need to get all their skill players back healthy and cut down on the turnovers. They remind me of past Murray teams the way they like to control the clock with a strong ground attack, behind a big, strong line. I do think they need to pass the ball more efficiently to really take that next step, even if it's short passes or screens, just to keep the defenses from loading the box so much.

Mayfield might have trouble with DeSales.
#49
Might, is a understatement imo, they more likely, than not will have problems with Desales, but before Desales Murray

Im not lookin that far ahead. I see a Murray team coming to town Friday that is probably a better team than being giving credit for, They are finally back healthy, and starting to roll. Mayfield will sill be down a couple players. Hope im wrong, but I got a strange feeling Murray takes this one along with home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

5 seconds till pj says Murray is garbage. Loser in this game travels to Owensboro Catholic for the 2nd round. Winner of this game gets 3rd round home game against winner of that tough 2nd round game.

Actually the winner in this game gets home field advantage through the fourth round of the playoffs. The loser would be on the road for second and third round. If they win that they will be home for fourth round.

As far as Murray goes, I have been told by someone in the know that they will have the toughest defensive line of anyone we have or will play this year. Outside of that they seem to not be too uptight about it. It will definitely give us an idea as to how well we can do in the playoffs. It will be tough without Trajon and Jaime, but it is still doable.
#54
Murray is very good defensively but will struggle to move the ball consistently. How many Murray players were injured when Graves beat them?
#55
Corbin has grown up a lot last 3 weeks. They have played a little better every week

Coach Joe had lots of good things to say about them in the Messenger. I think they have pretty well figured that the hounds are a team on the rise. If he says such things, I would tend to believe that means good things for their future.

Hounds playing a lot of young kids this year. They are learning on the fly.

Could you send a Coach Joe assistant to my team?

No, we like our coaches. There is a former one at Hopkinsville and another one at Russellville though. Feel free to contact them.
