Williamsburg would be competitive with those teams. Mayfield was better than the rest.

I also think its an insult to beechwood to list them any lower than 6.

I sure hope you are right. I don't know where I would put the Super Bowl ring though. I've only got ten fingers, counting the thumbs of course, and they are already filled with state championship rings. Let me know if you want to see one.

Beechwood has lost to 2 teams this year that would beat everyone in 1a with the exception of Mayfield. It's not like BW lost to Bracken Co or Phelps.
I think BW is top 3 in class A. Don't let the record fool you.

Until they prove that then they don't deserve to be any higher than 10th. They haven't won a game and you think they DESERVE a ranking? Until they win a game I'm not ready to bank on the name coming through.

I think every team in 1A save Mayfield would lose to Dixie Heights... I do agree there.
Beechwood though got steamrolled by Dixie. I am not sure every 1A team would have been dominated in the same way.
Beechwood by all accounts was down last year and they didn't even lose by that big of a margin to Dixie. There is no surprise there is a correlation that the better Beechwood teams who were right alongside Mayfield at the top of class fared much better against Dixie (Winning in 2012, winning big in 2011, and losing competitively in 2010 for example)
Dixie Heights is what you would consider a good barometer early on for what kind of team Beechwood has. Dixie is usually a middle of the pack team in 5A and 6A. Beechwood shouldn't be able to beat Dixie most years, but elite 1A teams should at least keep it close with a middle of the pack team like Dixie.
09-09-2014, 04:51 PM
That's usually the case. But, maybe Dixie is better this year. It's a little too early in the season to give up.

Barring injuries, Pikeville will have their way with Raceland at Pikeville in the playoffs. Want to get this on the record early.

As a Raceland fan, i hate to hear that, but I believe that you are right. Udk if Raceland can hang with Pikeville just yet. I feel Pikeville will be in BG from the east.

2011, B'wood had a solid team. 2012, not near as good, 2013, I couldn't tell you because Frankfort hammered them before they got to the semi's. In 2009 and 10, Mayfield beat them with ease. In 2009, they certainly weren't as good as LCA and I doubt Hazard either. In 2010, I felt Hazard was better. In 2011, Hazard was better. In 2012, Fairview was better. They didn't show it in the title game, but, what they did in the reg season and playoffs was very impressive. Frankfort and Russellville were both better in 2013 and Williamsburg could make a case, too.. Too many people are still stuck in the 90s and giving the Tigers way too much credit for the actual product that's been put out on the field these past few years.. Not saying they're bad, but, a lot of teams have caught up to them and some have surpassed..
09-10-2014, 12:07 AM
Well you will get your chance to see if the east has caught them next year if not this one.

That's the whole point of why I ranked them 10th. All these teams coming off double digit win seasons have improved. Based off what Dixie did its clear that Dixie got better but beechwood did not improve at all and that is why Dixie smoked them as bad as they did. They are barely a top ten team right now.

Not counting them out at all, would love to see them again. 35-0 run last year to go from 21-28 to 56-28 and 35-6 run this year to go from 14-24 to 49-30. I love Hazard. Gooooooo Hazard...........:Cheerlead
Didn't mean to poke you in the eye there hoss.
