both teams have a great program going this year but im going to have to go valley 32 central 6 all valley has to do is keep the out side contained and not let corvon get into the open field and the line and middle linebacker hit varney all night and he will get soft

if Valley's D is as good as it was Saturday they will be able to stop Varney, all they have to do is stay focused and keep thiers heads in the game and play like they did against MT

Pike Central has played 2 fairly good 3A teams (Boyd Co. and Lawerence Co.) very close, and beat a much improved East Ridge team. On the other hand Shelby Valley has beaten 1A Phelps, got beaten by Matewan and beat no-name Midland Trail. Valley does have some good backs, but Johnson hasn't impressed me at all. Cable is the better of the 2. Pike Central is fast and now have another dimension in their offense and much improved defense.........With that said Pike Central 32 Shelby Valley and their new turf and new uniforms 24

From what my brother told me after he got home from practice today is that this game has been moved from Friday to Saturday but he said its not yet official

I think Valley will win

The fact that you called a win over East Ridge good and win over "No Name" Midland Trail not good said a lot about your knowledge and bias.

I believe coach Saunders and his Shelby Valley team will come out with the win Friday night.

Well I was going to watch UK and Miss. In Commonwealth but I will not miss this cross county rivalry game and huge district tilt.
Well I just heard this game is being moved to Saturday night. Is it going to be played at SV? Or will it be there second home game be played at Hillard Howard Field. Will see!
Why is the game being delayed to Sat. Night? What is the hold up this time? Is it that hard to lay down fake grass? Canât the SV administration find any good carpet layers up there in the Caney area? Is it the rain or the carpet layers that is causing the hold up?
This is a real coming out party for SV even New Uniforms?
Okay letâs get down to the real facts of this game.
1. Passing Game: SV does pass the ball pretty well and I give them credit there. PC has some weapons to, Merchant to Nichols, Ratliff, and Hampton. Take for instance the last drive of the Pike County Bowl and the two huge pass plays to Nichols to seal the win for PC.
2. Running Game: PC all the way in this one Merchant, Varney, Buckley and they have two big fullbacks in the Carter and Meade kid that can get a few yards. Carter made a couple big runs against ER.
3. Defense: SV has the big Johnson kid up front and he is a load. SV could not stop the McCoy kid from Matewan he went thru them like a dose of caster oil and he is a pretty darn good running back. PC is big up front and they have some pretty good line backers in Carter, Meade, and Merchant. The defensive end is the Hampton kid and he is going to be a dandy and he has a nose for the ball. Corners for PC are going to have to play big in this one. PC Here.
4. Special Teams: PC in this one. Merchant had a huge kick off return to start the second half against Boyd County. Kicking Game to PC and also the Punting game. PC needs to watch for the trickery of the point after, they tried it against Matewan.
5. Depth and Condition: Is SV in Condition? I thought SV got tired against Matewan in the forth quarter and they looked wore out. They could not substitute any kids to give there kids a blow. Midland Trail made a run on them to. PC looks to be in condition, and they a good number of kids out to where they can rest some kids both ways. I heard they had a real good summer in there conditioning program. PC here.
6. Who can stay away from the turn over bug? This could be a huge factor!
I pick PC in this one.

but im going to pick the feathers over the fur in this one...no home field advantage how about that one could have been key...

LOL Thats funny stuff. Obviosuly you all don't go outside much. Its awfully hard to lay carpet in the rain wouldnt you think? There having some problems with the weather. Well lets see the last time Valley played at Pikeville they put up stats like this:
Rushing- 234 yards on 52 att.
Cody Mitchell-98 yd. 2tds. on 16 carries.
Brock Kinney-47 yards on 15 carries.
Jonah Justice- 43 yards on 9 carries.
Chris Yates-54 yards on 5 carries
Passing- 14 of 23 for 218 yds.
Tyler Johnson-5 of 7 for 116 yards and two tds.
Cody Varney- 9 of 16 for 102 yds.
Recieving-
Lucas Simpkins-6 catches for 66 yards and a td.
Colby Newsome-3 catches for 34 yards and a td.
So as far as Im concerned Lets play the rest of the season at Pikeville. All the comments about our turf makes me think that all you Pike Central fans are jealous that you wasnt the next Pike County school to get turf . As for the new uniforms for Valley. They will be playing in probly the black on balck like they had last year. They just switch it up a lil this year. Like aginst MT. They went with white pants and black jerseys. Should be a good game. But Im gonna go out on a limb hear and say Valley shuts down Varney! The star back for this game will be Cody Mitchell.

Since you pretty much went over the whole PC greats in your run down Ill go with the Valley Side.
1. Passing game-Advantage Shelby Valley. Johnson is a better passer than Merchant. Merchant is a runnign qb. A speedster more like along the lines of how Timmy Griffith was a few years ago for Valley. Valley also has my advantage in recievers. Lucas Simpkins could possibly be the best reciver in the Mts. He is definatly the best in Pike and Floyd Countys. Take for instance the 5tds he alreayd has this year or the two catches he made at Pville. And also Colby Newsome who if you all forgot got a little seasoning this summer in the down under bowl(which his team won) Plus MT had a D1 caliber corner, ER not so much.
2.Running game-Toss up in my book. PC has Varney and Merchant. Valley has Yates, Kinney, Mitchell, and Justice. Valley goin with the running back by comitee should help them in this game not letting one back get to tired. a slight edge could be given to PC with all the hype for Varney.
3.Defense-advantage Valley. With Cable leading the d-line along with Johnson and Gillispie(sp?) Valley should be able to handle Varney they had some problems with the back from matewan but they shut MT down.
4. Special teams-PC I guess because Valley has no kicking game. Returns Im gonna say are even with Simpkins and Merchant.
5.Depth and conditining-PC may have the depth but I am gonna say Valley is better conditioned the kids from Valley are getting used to goin both ways and it could be a little cooler friday night than it was at South Floyd. And the comeback MT made aginst Valley was froma blocked punt and interceptions with the a few back ups in.
Valley big in this one. And if it rains Friday so what were on the turf whether we play at Valley or at Pikeville so let it rain let it rain let it rain touchdowns from tyler johnson to Lucas and Colby!!!!!!!!!!! Valley Big 42-14!!!!

well lets see pils they supposivly was to have the turf 3 weeks ago the weather hasnt been that bad for three straight weeks...Do i wish Central would get the turf you darn sure i do...would i rather Central have it rather than Valley yup i do but hey thats how it is...my point is it DOES NOT TAKE A MONTH to lay the turf down for Pikeville it took one week tops and that was baseball and a football field...as for the game Valley and Pike Central both have a decent passing game BUT Valley hasnt met tough corners like the kids from PC they did a nice job against LC and Boyd Valley doesnt even compare to EITHER one of those passing games...
