Geez Somerset fans....
Guess I am seeing the answer to the question I asked earlier this month about why the Somerset crowds were so different the last two times they played Belfry.
At least give them until October before jumping ship... heck Belfry got worked over by Henry Clay last year early on but everyone stood by and they were the best team in EKY by season's end. Have faith. Belfry's rebuilt defense may make them look pretty good.. remember Belfry is notorious for starting slow.

No one is jumping ship on them. It was two of us on here who said we we weren't going to make it, both of us under slightly unusual circumstances. JD just had heart surgery like a week ago. I'm going to Afghanistan next month and Friday is my last night in Kentucky. Just saying I think there are other things we should be doing than driving three hours to watch a potential blowout.

This should be a good game Somerset has some stud players, but Belfry will put it out

I can't blame you. It would be different if it were an hour drive. Thank you for your service and stay safe over there.

EKUAlum05 Wrote:Fact of the matter is Belfry's defense has major, major questions still and offense is not Somerset's biggest issue. Plus Somerset will have Lange back,
Think it will be a competitive game until late.
Like Belfry by 2 TD all things being equal.. but can see them winning by 3 or 4 TD's if Somerset turns it over.
Lange will not be back this week, from a source.

First of all, thank you for your service. We all owe you a debt of gratitude for your sacrifices to our country on our behalf. Thank you.
As for the support issue, you both stated you planned on attending the game, but decided not to because your team didn't play well last week. Just seemed odd to me because your circumstances didn't change, just your expectations. I hope you change your mind, it should be a great atmosphere.

I had planned on attending all summer, heart surgery 2 weeks ago has kind a kicked my butt. Game and 1/2 that I watched last week wore me out and I live 1/2 mile away, that has a lot more to do with me not making the trip than being worried about the outcome. I enjoyed my last trip to Cam, well as much as I could with it being my son's last high school game.
I am not jumping ship on my boys, just not making the long drive over there this week.

My apologies, not the first time I've spoken out of turn.
Hope you recover fully and I hope it is a good game. Wish you could be here JD.

I understand where your coming from but I just don't think I have it in me to make the trip all the way over there just to possibly get the sick feeling in my stomach I've had for the past two days and then have to jump on a plane back West. Sounds petty I know but I think I'd rather just spend my last day with family and friends than to risk it. Hopefully they make me sick at my stomach for not going, but Friday was as down as I've been about a Somerset game since our last trip to CAM. Thank you for your support also, and I'm sorry for hijacking the thread.

Somerset will come out motivated and ready to go, but it won't be enough.

Blowout Belfry 54 Somerset 18.

I don't think it will be a blowout. Somerset is well coached. They will be working hard to fix the problems. They are still very talented aren't they?
I still have no idea how good belfry really is on the oline or front seven on D, but I'll take them by a score.

Just wanted to add my two cents worth!!!
RoShamBo - I too, would like to thank you for your service! Be safe, and come home soon!!
JumperDad - Get well soon!! Watching your babies play football may kick start that ticker of yours'!!!
Good luck to both teams; let's pray for an injury free game!!!

I don't see a blow out....Somerset has the advantage of seeing there weaknesses, we got better at ours from the two scrimmages but it's not the same as a full game....Both have great and explosive offenses but the winner is gonna be determined what Defense steps up...Of course I'm gonna go with my Pirates...Good luck to both teams, and an injury free game...

May be a close first half, but Belfry turns it up in the second half and runs out the clock.

Stamina will be a factor. It's gonna be a scorcher Friday if weather predictions hold true. Thank The Lord we play the 2nd game!
But if y'all remember last year Henry Clay had us gasping for air before halftime. Hopefully we are a better conditioned team at this point.

ARGHHHHH!! The Pirates Roll!!!!
08-26-2013, 01:51 PM
I think this will be one h#ll of a ball game. Both teams have a lot of questions going into this game. The two biggest advantages in my opinion will be CAM Stadium, and Coach Haywood. I have a lot of respect for both programs, but Belfry will be hard to beat. Belfry 28 Somerset 21. Good Luck to both teams.

I have to say after the Pulaski Co. Surprise lol I'm not so sure this is gonna be as close of a game as I thought. Hopefully Somerset can get their game plan together and fix their mistakes and make it a close game. If that happens, Belfry 28-20.. If Somerset comes in and plays like last week, Belfry big 48-14......... GO PIRATES!!!
08-26-2013, 03:35 PM
I have to take the Pirates in this one. Could be a running clock. I just believe that Belfry will physically whip Somerset. Good luck to both teams and I hope for an injury free game.

I get the impression many who are calling for a belfry blowout don't understand just how many "bigs" belfry graduated. The skill is back but almost every kid with large shoulder pads is inexperienced.
Look for a good game.

Belfry in a close one if the Jumpers skill comes to play. After looking at the stats last week, Somerset needs to have more balance. Belfry loves for teams to be one dimensional against them. They figure they will probably give up some things through the air, but if that is all you can do against them, then you will probably lose. If Somerset can run and throw, then it will be a dandy ballgame. I like Belfry 28-20.
