I was so happy to see that our Black Bears played well last night!! Go Black Bears!
Good luck to a good Knox Central team in every game except when we play you again. I hope your team doesn't have any serious injuries this season as much as I hope our Black Bears don't have any serious injuries.

I have no issue with folks criticizing my son or any other player on the team. That is part of what you sign up for when you play sports especially QB. I reacted to what I felt was inaccurate criticism of him and I reserve the right to do so again. He may well be the reason we lose some games. That is also part of the job. But wouldn't it make sense to let that happen before he gets singled out?

Fact is I have enjoyed this board for many years and have done my best to be a positive part of this community. But make no mistake - I know my limitations. I will completely stop logging on and delete my account before I sit back and watch the same folks who smile to my face at practice and games take pot shots at my son hiding comfortably behind their screen names. And that is fine too - I just will not be a part of it.

Its only percieved as a big deal because he's your son. If you had defended him and he wasn't your son then 2 thoughts wouldn't have been given

It's nuts to criticize a kid who took his first snaps of his HS career. Russell obviously knows the kid has talent of he wouldn't be back there. I don't blame you for defending him, but people who know football know this kid will be a player in due time. Facing a HC defense that is known for putting immense pressure is not the idea situation for him to make his debut. Kinda like Couch getting his first start agains Florida. I'm not trying to say there is that much difference between the two teams, but this was a less than idea situation for his first start.

With that said, FB1 I'm not sure I've seen you so rattled. Let it rest bro...

Time goes by so fast and he'll be a senior and you'll be walking across the field with him on Senior Night in the blink of an eye. Pray every day that he doesn't get injured. Enjoy this precious time and please don't let what anybody says rob you of the enjoyment that comes from watching your son take the field on Friday night's. I'm no expert like most of the others on this board Smile

but I have learned a few things over time and one thing is for sure, football is absolutely a team sport. If KC loses this year (and I hope it's just one), it will not be because of one player. They will or lose as a unit. So just take a deep breath and sit back and enjoy. Your biggest concern right now is feeding that monster QB!!!! Best of luck.

My first priority in this life is to represent Christ. I fail often in that but it remains my goal. Anything that gets in the way of that must be shed. And the fact is it is clear to me that having my son in such a visible position makes it impossible for me to be a part of this without friction. It will make life worse for him as well. And me arguing with folks will do nothing but harm for all involved.

I grew up fatherless and those who know me know that I am fanatical about my sons. I never intend to fight their battles for them - just by their side. I never had that - they always will so long as God gives me breath then from the windows of heaven if He permits. So with that allow me to say thanks to the excellent folks on this site whom I have enjoyed many great discussions and learned much from your perspective. It has been a blessing.
