North Laurel 57 - Whitley County 55

First, I don't know what comments you read that I made where I demeaned any player.....show me... Second, the only person I blamed for this defeat is the Coach. Right where it belongs....He got out coached pitifully.... Third, I am not her DAD!!!! My heart goes out to every player on the Lady Colonel Team. It does not go out to a coach who has been around over 25 years and never won a Regional Championship. If he couldn't do it with this team he never will. And while we are on the subject....Woolum was introduced as a forward...not a center....and she really is a guard. I would like you to put the other post players you mentioned out on her at mid-court and see if they can stop her from driving. Craig was not allowed stay on the floor long enough to break a sweat and get into the flow of the game....once again...COACHING!!!!!!!! The only player everyone seems to want to demean is Craig...... So go back and read your post and you will see who is really doing the demeaning.....

No one should be singled out for the loss, not the coach and certainly not a player. Basketball is not golf or tennis, it's a team sport and the best teams win or lose as a team.

The Craig girl is now in a very uncomfortable situation if she and Coach Anderson both return. I can't see her returning to Corbin, that bridge may have been burned, so if she transfers, I suppose Williamsburg would be the next destination.

Hopefully things work out for the best so that she can enjoy her high school career.

Have you lost your mind? Why should the craig girl be in a very uncomfortable situation because of what I (a fan of the lady colonels and her) have to say about her coach? If he can't handle the heat....he needs to get out of the kitchen. She in no way is responsible for my opinion. You are blowing this way out of proportion. Any coach who would hold a player responsible for what is said about him on a message board is not a coach at all....THIS KIND OF RESPONSE IS THE DUMBEST ONE YET....KEEP TRYING TO STIR THE POT AGAINST HER.....ITS OBVIOUS YOU DON'T WANT THE COMPETITION SHE BRINGS AGAINST YOUR TEAM. Unbelievable.........Confusedilly:

That's a good one. Asking someone with a logical response if they've lost their mind.
You really should stop embarrassing your daughter/granddaughter. No one else would be so obsessed with one player. You're making Run it up the Gut sound reasonable.
#35
You could always play keep away like North did.
I would love to see a shot clock in both boys and girls basketball.
#36
Wow, theres an argument and im not in it.....
#37
North played smart. They didn't stall. They just controlled the tempo.
There were 112 points scored after all.

lol, you never cease to amaze me with your delightful post.
I guess when they were holding the ball and the entire arena was booing at one time, they werent stalling were they?
Dont worry, im pretty sure you wont even come around a Whitley thread next year....

This one takes the cake....if you have a negative opinion about the way a coach coaches.....you are suddenly a parent or grandparent of a player.... go back and read my posts...I initially talked about the way he benched not only his Big but the entire starting line-up. I guess I am their parents and grandparents too! funny..... The way you people have attacked one player only shows just how valuable she is to this team. Thanks for proving my point. IMO it is time for him to ride off into the sunset.....:Sad04:

Basketball Wizzard is not her father or grandfather.
In fact, hes not that much older than her....

Brother, sister or boyfriend then. No one would make every post about one person otherwise.

You just don't want to except the truth....I told you earlier I am "A FAN OF THE LADY COLONELS AND THIS PLAYER" not a relative. When someone makes a obvious observation (ME!) as to why a team lost when they shouldn't have.....and a bunch of jerks start attacking an outstanding player (THEM!).....someone has to stand up for that player.....I guess that would be ME AGAIN......

It's that simple....."Believe it or Not!".....

You are the only person who brings her up, dozens of times over the season it seems.
When you say something outrageous time and time again, like she's the best post player in the region, people will feel the need to correct it. She's a nice player with potential, but you have brought way too much negative attention to her with your attacks on the coach and comparisons to other players.

HDE,

The problem is we've heard all year how great Whitley Co. is and how they're on a "crash course" with Clay Co. for the 13th Regional Championship. No one is in the same league with Whitley and Clay. They're just too good. Forget that Harlan Co. played Clay within four on the road because Whitley done it at home and no one else in the region could do that. All of these great players were just held back because North Laurel pulled them out on the floor...wait, I mean held the ball...wait, because there is no shot clock and Whitley Co. just has a bad coach that held them back and the whole thing was just fixed!

Obviously, we have stumbled upon a bunch of fans that spoke from their hearts instead of their heads and now are trying to cover up all of those statements about Whitley Co.'s greatness that now make them look so ignorant. Just let it go and wait until next year, and then we'll hear it all over again about how they're going to kill Harlan Co. in football. And then, when that don't happen, then they'll beat everybody by 20 in the region in Girls Basketball. And then when that don't pan out, watch out because their track team that features Usain Bolt and Jackie Joyner-Kersee will run away from everyone in the country!

Run, there will not be a shot clock in high school basketball for a long time. I know they are playing around with the ideal right now but look at the OVERALL state of Kentucky. I have seen teams that would struggle getting a shot off in 35 seconds. Just take your loss and go home.

I'm tired of trying to talk reasonably to a bunch of sarcastic JERKS! Especially you "HDE" Harlan Daily Enterprise. So.....:rage:

People who don't have anything intelligent to say usually resort to name calling. It's a lot easier than thinking.

You should have heard it because they were that great.
Ill admit NL had a great game plan against us. They wanted to limit our offensive fire power and set up in a four corners offense and just passed all night long. 9 times out of 10, Whitley beats North by 20.

And yes you will hear it next year in football and basketball.
Bunch of young kids ready to lead the way.
Im not replying to your post so ill leave it at that. Ill see you in October.

I am home. Where did you think i was?

Yes, there should be a shot clock.
It takes absoloutly no skill to hold the ball all night, for example the Highlands game they lost 13-8 which was pathetic.

Teams get desperate this time of year and it shows.
They'll no get killed by HC because HC will be ready for it and ill have to hear about that, even though we just destroyed HC 2 weeks ago.

Its a revolving door. Trust, me next year it will come back around and slap you in the ass.
#51
On a better note, the best player in the region is just a sophomore.
And yes, im talking about smith.

If Craig can step up enough next year to fill the void left by Anderson, Whitley should be fine. Everyone else returns. I think a lot of people will be surprised how good Powers is next year. She will be a senior and is very talented and a great role player. The Digness girl had some great playing time this year as a freshman as well.

Also, Congrats to the Holbrook girl for signing with Cumberland to play soccer.

Wow. You are completely wrong there.
First, North held the ball for the first two minutes, that is when the crowd started booing. After that they didn't hold the ball the rest of the night. I agree a shot clock wouldn't be bad for high school basketball, but it probably wouldn't have made a difference in this game.

It's comical how you are acting as though what Highlands did in a 13-8 game is the same as what North Laurel did when they scored 57 points.

As for 'destroying' Harlan County. Whitley won at home by 13 with Harlan County's 2nd Team all-region center Sarah Evans out of the game. I don't think that classifies as destroying someone.

I think its comical how you keep trying to downplay Whitleys win over HC.
I think our 4th string 7th grade center was out, so thats why we only won by 13.

You know I like you and many of your statements are funny.....but this was the one of the funniest I seen from you this year.Confusednicker: Craig will be fine if she is allowed to play more than half a game next year. You do realize she never got to play a full game all season due to her glorious leader.....This is something all the bashers have forgot to mention when they are comparing her to other Bigs in this region. Other teams are smart and leave their Bigs on the floor and pass them the ball. She got to play 3 quarters against Corbin in the District Final and her team passed her the ball......guess what? According to the newspaper she had 23 points, 10 rebounds for a double-double. If they will let her play next year we will win this region and go to state. If they continue to treat her like they did this year.....we are bound for another early exit.

Now with that said.........LET THE BASHING BEGIN AGAIN!!!!!!! I'm tough.....I can take it! :concentratetongue:

In previous posts, you've said that Woolum shouldn't have been listed as a center OR a forward but rather a guard. What I can't understand is if that 's the case, why didn't they put the REGION'S BEST PLAYER guarding her in Smith?????? Just amazing to me that they didn't think of that!!!!!

Now, the truth is NO ONE on Whitley Co.'s team including their fans and coaches could have guarded Ashley Woolum and you know it!!!!! North Laurel was not holding the ball, but rather just pulling that Whitley Co. defense out on the floor so that Woolum could go around them EVERY SINGLE TIME and either A) shoot a layup, B) hit Bruner or Proffitt for a wide open 3, or C) get fouled by some kid about three steps slower than Woolum reaching in as she was streaking by them to the basket. That's clearly what happened, they scored 57 points, there was no holding the basketball, just smart coaching and MORE ATHLETICISM!!!!!!

People talk about NL stalling the ball. They scored 57 points which is not a small number in high school girls basketball. It appears that whatever they did worked and they advanced in the regional tournament. Congrats to the Lady Jaquars.

Runitupthegut says that because North held the ball for the first two minutes. They went up and down the floor after that.

WWWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, hold on a second. Did Run just say what I think he said? Did you say that it takes no skill to hold the ball? If it takes no skill to hold the ball, then explain to me what happen?:lmao:

This is funny, can you remember the Running Rebels? Yes, thats right they ran and ran and ran all night, now my question is this: If you were coaching what would you try to do against this team?Confusedhh: Oh wait, you would SLOW THE GAME DOWN! If you say anything else, you don't know the game or you're lying.

Bottom line is this: your a sore loser. If it takes no skill to hold the ball, then Whitley must have less skill then North because they couldn't do anything about it. Have you ever heard of man to man? If that doesn't work because of the guard being that good, what about Box and Chaser? Yeah, that's right some times slower is better.

PS Run, it takes a good coach to out coach TALENT. Have all the talent you want and give me 5 players that will give me everything and I will beat you. :hilarious:

Your love affair with Craig is even driving me crazy now.
Yes she is a good post player, but no she isnt the best.
She has A LOT of things to work on and get better at.
