I dont think the running game struggled. just not attempting to pass killed them. You got to at attempt more passes then what rock did. Boyle was hands down the better team. Good luck to them next week. Congrats to rock on a great season.

I just didn't see Boyle County as 26 points better than Rock, I wasn't at the game, so I didn't see it, but I still do not believe they are. However the scoreboard is all that truly matters. Good win Rebels.
I predicted Boyle County would win by 24 or more. So I was really close.
Joking aside, both teams had chances to put more points on the board. Boyle County played somewhat ugly, probably because the toughness of Rockcastle, but they will need to clean their game up if they want to come out of Clays Mill Road with a win. Congrats to Rockcastle on a successful season.

No offense. But averaging 2.5 yards a carry is stuggling. It was the conversions on fourth downs that really helped Rockcastle County drive and nearly score. No doubt about it, Rockcastle was a tough team.

^You know why they averaged 2.5 yards per carry? I don't care if you are the old Big 12 teams that used to put 3 or 4 in the backfield and run triple options, if a team can put 9 or 10 in the box, you are not going to be able to run the ball. RockSolid69 was right, I thought I heard someone say they attempted one pass in the 1st half. 1? Really? Even when Bell County had Robbins and Boyle County had McShara they would pass more than once per half.
You have to mix it up a little, even if that means 5 passes. I have said that all my life, it isn't just something I am saying now. Boyle County was the better team but Rock could have made it closer.

That's very true, you don't necessarily have to be good at passing (or running for that matter), but you need to be prepared to keep the other teams defense honest enough so they don't zero in on your biggest strength and shut it down. I thought Rockcastle did a pretty good job at moving the ball last night, they impressed me with the gutsy 3rd and 4th down coversions.

Ok. I get what you're saying and I agree with your whole post. I just didn't have the time to elaborate. I wasn't knocking Rockcastle County by any means. I just felt that they were one dimensional and it showed on paper after the game.
Rockcastle County could have made it closer. However, Boyle County could have made it worse. If "if's and but's were candy and nut's we'd all have a merry christmas". Point is, game is over. Rockcastle County had a great season. 10-2(district champs) after losing a great player early in the season. Nothing wrong with that. Rockcastle County is a classy school with classy fans. Always an honor to meet up with the Rock.

True. no offense taking. What im saying the run game it self was not the promblem. if you keep running the ball over and over every play teams will blitz CB, MLB, and Safteys, and that almost makes it impossible to move the ball. to start the game rock moved the ball all the way down the field. as the night went along boyle would send everyone. Just say rock need to pass more to at least give you a chance at winning.

Actually Rock probably passed for as many yards as Boyle did. I can think of a couple passes Rock tight end caught. I doubt if either team passed for more than 50 yards!!

Does not look like Boyle's passing game is any better than from the beginning of the year. 15 attempts with 4 completions and 1 interception. That is not exactly going to keep a defense honest.

Yep, it isn't any better since we first played Highlands:Thumbs: We're actually not planning on passing any more this season.

By having a weak schedule and not taking care of business, they lost their chance to win district.highschoolfan, why are you using term or some of the other ppl using the term "weak opponents" to us, ROCK only had 5 losing teams on the schedule out of 12 games, the saying goes "those who live in glass houses should not throw stones" b\c Boyle played the exact same amount of losing teams on their schedule of 5. Practice what you preach please!!!!...the fact is the fact, Boyle won and ROCK had a great season overcoming 2 consecutive losing records into rebuild mode, you cannot assume ROCK won 9 games b\c of "weak scheduling"....thats strongly not true, these kids worked their tails off from the winter off season of 2010 to make this season special. One person cannot make a team, everyone makes a team along with staff. I appreciate it if some would be more mannerable about ROCK's turnaround season.
Rock assumed some of their teams would have been better that they scheduled (Sheldon Clark disappointing, etc...) but according to wins and losses, they had the better schedule of the 3 teams.
What I always say about winning races, divisions, districts, etc... take care of business and do not leave your destiny in someone elses hands. There is a reason 80% of people picked Russell County to win this district, they showed flashes of it. They played great games against Boyle County and Rockcastle, and played terrible games against Russell County and West Jessamine. Coach Russell had a better season that I predicted he would, I am glad he proved me wrong, so far.
Knox Central has nobody to blame except themselves for not winning the district.

Hate to hear that, because if you get past Lex Cath, CCH/HHS defenses would love for you to pass the ball a lot!

Guess you were not at the game? Stats do not always tell the whole story. There were a lot of really good balls thrown that night, but for whatever reason, the receivers had the drops. I know that the passing game needs for the QB and receivers to both be on, and that was not the case Friday night. If you want to believe that the passing game is a non factor for Boyle, go with that and hopefully we can surprise you. I am happy with the way that we have improved. Sometimes, even incompletions can be a good thing when you expose a defensive weakness. I think that the first offensive play of the game got Rocks attention, even though it was dropped. It did show that we can pass the ball downfield. The Rebs will be on all cylinders for LexCath. Stats do not matter at this time if the year, just survive and advance.
Big games for both of our teams this weekend, hopefully we can both survive and advance and get to see each other Thanksgiving weekend.

Not the QB's fault he had at least 6 passes dropped that were right on the money one was a TD pass.don't know why we had so many drops the recievers have been making those plays over the last 6 games.they won't be able to do that and win friday.how ever i think we'll make those plays come friday night.

It is great to still be playing Thanksgiving weekend! But for selfish reasons though, I hope Lex Cath wins (it is a shorter drive). Good Luck this week, I have a feeling it is going to be an exciting week for both teams.

I don't believe that "highschool fan" is a Boyle County fan so no need to take shots at the Rebels. I know all the Boyle County fans love and respect Rockcastle County's football program and it is great to see them back on top of their district. Build on that and bring it next season. Look forward to future matchups with the Rockets.

Good luck to the Bluebirds. I hope I get to see them one more time this season. Win or lose, it's been a great season.

I'm sure it doesn't matter what type of offense we run, Cov Cath or Highlands will be prepared. Should be an interesting matchup though. If i'm not mistaken, wasn't the Boyle/Highlands game the second closest score out of all the Ky schools the Birds have played this season? I don't recall us playing Cov Cath before, but I was stationed elsewhere throughout the 90's though.
