Dixie Heights 21, Holmes 12
#5
Holmes could have easily won this game. They really hurt themselves with mental mistakes.

After forcing Dixie to a 3 and out their first possession, Oden muffed the punt and Dixie got the ball back, scoring the very next play to go up 7-0.

On Holmes next possession they scored a td to tie the game up, but an offensive lineman downfield on the play negated the TD and Holmes had to settle for the Fg, down 7-3.

Dixie scored again to go up 14-3 and on the next possession, Holmes drove down to the 1 yard line but pentalties pushed them back and they had to settle for another FG. So instead of the game being tied 14-14 or Holmes up 14-7, they found themselves down 14-6.

Dixie got the ball back with 3 minutes left til half and drove right down the field in I believe 6 or 7 plays to score and put them up 21-6 heading in to the half.

Second half Holmes defense stepped up big time but their offense couldn't convert. Holmes drove in to Dixie territory time after time but couldn't put it in the end zone, outside of a third quarter td run by Jensen.

A few positives for Holmes fans:

- Freshman Desean Peterson had over 100 yards receiving and time after time was out-jumping the Dixie DB's for long receptions in key 3rd-4th and long situations.

-Junior QB Jesse Jensen rushed and passed for over 100 yards.

- After giving up 21 in the first half, Holmes defense shut Dixie down in the second half.

- Holmes best days may be ahead of them. When you look at who is making plays for them, it is primarily underclassmen. They are going to be VERY good next year.
