I got no problem with it personally. I did not do it because i saved those ups for the game. I was always under the impression that officials did not want any damage to the goal before the game. I do remember one of our guys wrecked the rim and it cost some minutes before tip off. The other side is you can get injured doing it. I want all the skin on my fingers when i shoot. That said if you feel froggy jump!!
