An independant school IS a public school.

Many, if not most, municipalities/cities that have a tax revenue base have chosen to operate a school system with an independant board, administration, and tax revenue system.

An independant school is not private. It simply means the school is independant of the county system.

Paintsville is also a public, independant school...Jenkins is a public independant school...Hazard is an independant school.
