Most of rural America is, using Jet's verbiage,  a sh!thole of racist, misogynist, homophobic, xenophobic,  transphobic,  fascist, uneducated, redneck,  hillbillies. I'm for going to the popular vote to keep these hillbillies from cutting their own throats by continuing to vote against their own self-interests. Someone has to look out for these poor people, so it might as well be Old School.  Nix the EC. 

We are all well aware of the low opinion that you hold of Corbin and the surrounding area. My advice is that you move, if you can find any town that will still welcome people of your ilk. You are part of a shrinking minority of America-haters.
