For those that are into numbers, like Old School, you might enjoy this tidbit:  There are 783, 137 words in the authorized KJV of the Bible( I counted them all last night). I did a little math. If you wanted to read the entire Bible in one year, you would need to read about 2,146 words per day.  Now, the average silent reading speed for an adult reader in English is 238 wpm for non-fiction and 260 wpm for fiction. Now, we can all debate whether the Bible is more of a read of fiction or non-fiction but it's all about the numbers in this post from Old School.

Since the Bible is a pretty difficult read, let's go with the lower end of that reading speed. If you read at 238 wpm, then it will take you right at 9 minutes to get your daily quota of 2,146 words. So, if you want to read the Bible through in one year, set aside 9 minutes a day.


Btw, there is a staggering 3, 116,480 character letters in the Bible!!!!!



More Old School math... If you wanted  to type the authorized KJV of the Bible, how long would it take you?  The average typing speed for the average Joe like you and me is about 40 wpm. If your job was to work a 8 hour shift every day typing the words of the Bible from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 (just the text ) , it would take you about 41 days of typing.
