Have it from a good source that the summer ball schedule, and off season program that had been put together has all been canceled, which would be a strong indicator that the coach is no longer there, even though that hasn't been made official yet. If that is the case, why just up and cancel everything? Leave it in place for the next coach, the summer ball schedule at least, bc it's going to be tough to get into team camps the longer this drags out.  I understand maybe moving around any practice schedules so other teams within the school can get more gym time to practice. If Chase has no intentions of coming back, he needs to let the administration know, or maybe the administration needs to find out, if they haven't already. It really seems like this is being handled poorly by both sides.

The school has posted supplemental jobs for people to sign up. This is earlier than usual so I’m guessing Ricky Thacker is hearing the same noise and wanted to make Chase decide now instead of dragging it out. I hear it’s unlikely Chase will sign up. I know a couple that will and either would be good for the longevity of the program. We’ve been spurned by two young coaches who had zero ties to Prestonsburg and you simply can’t make it a 3rd. Get someone who wants to be here and grow the program. You can still choose relatively young AND have ties to Prestonsburg and be successful. Let’s see if that’s how it plays out. I imagine those around the program will apply a lot of pressure on Ricky to make the right decision after how the last basketball hiring process went down.

Who are you thinking will put their name in the running for it?

Simply based on who applied last time: Harold Tackett, Dougie Hopkins, Brandon Gearheart. Outside shot of another stent with Brent Rose but that is simply speculation. JC has some incredible talent and Brent’s son is right in the thick of that talent so I’m not sure it’s even something he’d consider unless he wants to get back into coaching that bad. I’m sure there will be outsiders apply but I wouldn’t consider anyone unless they have a strong history with Prestonsburg. You can’t risk someone else jumping after a year or two.
