I believe that the RPI will look quite different by seasons end, I believe a lot of those 5 and 6A schools on Cov Cath’s schedule will lose a lot of ball games.

Right now,  Cov. Cath's WP, OWP and OOWP are ridiculously good. For those unfamiliar with RPI, that's the three components that are in the algorithm for calculating RPI.  WP=winning Percentage; OWP=Opponents Winning Percentage ; OOWP=Opponents Opponents Winning Percentage. The first two are weighted 35% of the RPI score and OOWP is rated 30%.  Here's how the five schools I've referenced compare, in terms of WP, OWP, and OOWP.

As you can see. Cov Cath's numbers in all three measures are extremely high. Their opponents and their opponents' opponents are all winning, Now, over time, their OWP and OOWP  will come down some but barring a loss or two, it won't be enough to dislodge them from the #1 spot. Ashland is very interesting. If they go in to Johnson Central and win and go undefeated on the season, it's possible, and even likely,  they would finish #2.

Btw, I made a slight error in Corbin's RPI. It is 0.70153 , NOT 0.72403.

Yeah, Jack, CC's OWP and OOWP will definitely come down. Just about all of their opponents  and OO have won thus far. It's definitely skewed. Unless they lose a game, though, I don't know if it will come down enough to dislodge them from the top. Only time will tell. I hope Corbin and Boyle don't have to meet in round 3, though I fear it will happen. I'd like to see an encore from last season's great game at Kroger.

You don’t need a link, waltz into the fieldhouse office of the Greerend and get that lip service hot and fresh that only Tommy can provide. True corbinites don’t worry about RPI, we worry about scheduling good teams and RPI takes care of itself..

If Boyle wins out there’ll be no question who the #1 seed is at seasons end.

If IF was a 5th then a lot of people be drunk. Boyle is the #1 seed hands down. Re-visit post come December.

If Boyle wins out they will be the best team, imo. But they won't necessarily have the #1 RPI. Best team and best RPI do not always go together.

We’ll have to agree to disagree, IMO Cov Cath’s schedule is definitely weaker than Boyle’s and Corbin’s Beechwood is definitely the best team that they will play in the regular season and they’re a 1A school I still believe that Boyle and Corbin will be the top seeds at seasons end.
