Why the sudden change?  Mitch was staunchly against this 2 weeks ago, and not only will the bipartisan bill pass, but there is likely to be another direct payout.

Anybody got any ideas what has happened to make the GOP leadership in the Senate come around on this issue?

(Gonna lose the Senate if they don't pass Stimulus #2)  Wink
Trump offered Pelosi a package that would have given twice the relief back in October. Pelosi blocked every effort to reach a compromise with Mnuchin until after the election.

Be that as it may, this is a horrible deal for every American citizen. The lockdowns have left many Americans broke and jobless. As Tulsi Gabbard said, $600 is a slap in the face to those who really needed help through no fault of their own.

I agree we should be closing and taking safety precautions to avoid the spread of this deadly virus, but the apathetic response by our federal government is shameful.  This haphazard leadership that forces people to put their (and others) health on the line to survive is why we are leading the world in deaths and cases.

And of course these losers are at the front of the line for the vaccine.

FWIW, I am griping about both sides.
There would not be a need for a COVID relief package if not for incompetent local and state government - the worst offenders being hypocritical liberal Democrats. If by losers being at the front of the line, you mean those who voted for this awful bill, then I agree with you.
Daily dose of Hooter obtuseness...
1.  Incompetent State and local leaders? Without them we would have lost millions of people to this plague.
2. The Senate has been the holdup.  Attempting to shift blame to Nancy Pelosi is silly.

However, You and Tulsi are correct.  This is a slap in the face to Americans.
Tell it to the surviving family members of the victims of Cuomo, who forced Covid-19 patients into nursing homes. Tell it to the thousands of Americans who have lost their jobs and life savings because the restaurants and other small businesses that employed them are no longer in business.

The truth is nearly all of the states having the highest infection rates and highest death rates have Democrat governors that have imposed the harshest lockdowns and mandatory mask rules. The same is true for cities with Democrat mayors.

States like Florida do not need federal bailouts because their economies have not been crashed by Democrats. Anyone who compares the Covid stats of states that have imposed the harshest measures to fight the virus with the states that have taken the opposite approach cannot deny the obvious fact that the lockdowns and mandatory mask rules have had little or no success while severely impacting state and local economies.

As with all liberal policies, Democrats' reaction to the failure of their Covid policies has been to take even harsher measures. If they decided to take the common sense approach, such as those pursued by Florida's governor, then they would be admitting that their policies are to blame for making the pandemic worse and decimating the economies of the states that voters entrusted them to govern.
Wow, you said something true and then doused it with half-truth.
In March, Cuomo’s decisions were a disaster.
If he had only been in on those January and February intel meetings, he could have unloaded his stock portfolio and made the right decisions on nursing homes.

When a nation isn’t prepared and downplays the severity of a pandemic. its population centers suffer.  That’s common sense.

You may want to check back in on that data.  Red states aren’t doing so hot these days.  I do love you are using Desantis as the lynchpin of your argument considering he has been doctoring the data the whole time.

But I understand red state frustration you’re parroting because who’s going to pay their bills if blue states are shut down to protect human life.

Headline: Schumer and Pelosi refuse to act on proposed COVID relief package until after the election in order to deny President Trump the credit.

That would be Mitch. Nancy and Mnuchin have been working together the whole time.
