If Pikeville is not content at being the top 1A football team in the state, then there is a simple solution - petition KHSAA to play up to 3A and actually compete for the 3A state title. Upsetting one of the nation's top 3000 teams every few years does not make Pikeville a top 10 program in Kentucky.

Seeing Pikeville compete with Belfry and Ashland for a regional title for a few years would be very interesting. My guess is that with the RPI system in place, Johnson Central might even be willing to add a Class 3A Pikeville team to its schedule.

Pikeville couldn't be happier where their program is at. If JC fans are content being 4A champs, little Class A Pikeville shouldn't even enter their minds.
