Does anyone up there really know what's going on with this bizzare alignment ? I'm just curious given I'm not from the area .. Why is Lawrence Co " shipped out" across the Johnson co district ? Is there something going on politically ? And if so , why ?

Maybe a deal was made for some schools to 'go along' with the super regional proposal in exchange for the 58th district to accept Lawrence County? In the long run, if the super regional pans out, they'll be no need for districts thus making it a mute point. The larger point is there was a push to get the super regional implemented and I don't think anyone was going to stop it. Matter of fact, there were plenty of dissenting voices against this move, yet there's always resistance to change.

I hope the super regional is seeded properly, yet scheduling will be a nightmare. In a perfect world, all teams would play each other once with resulting regional records determining seeds. No polls, votes, rankings, opinions. Results only. That's what this boils down to, win games against your competition in your region. Move along.

That being said, I feel bad for Piarist being moved again, yet as the Commissioner stated in the release, some schools don't field a team for all varsity sports, thus a major factor in why a proposal like this is being raised.

One more thought...this plan isn't for everyone. I think we can agree that ALL districts should seed instead of draw, yet if that can't happen, how would you ever be bold enough to try tinkering with the regional tournament? In talking to friends today, they reminded me that winning district tournament is still important. It still matters because there are still districts with natural, traditional rivalries. Yet in the 15th, most of those rivalries are now gone. I'm a tradition guy, but hanging on to tradition with no real reason besides resisting change is only limited yourself.

Another factor is that two of the last three Sweet 16 winners have been district runner's up. Eliminating districts takes away the advantage of having one poor night in the postseason.
