Obviously - you didn't read the most important part of my post ----"i make my kids wear a helmet any time they get on their pocket rocket, scooters, or atvs..." that is how i started my post .... and just because i don't agree with it doesn't mean I would tell them to stop wearing their helmets ...

this law has nothing to do with child safety this is another way for your state and county government to be able to go on YOUR property with out a warrant ---

just think all it takes now is your neighbor to call the police and say i say so and so's 12 year old kid and that is enough for them to come and give you a ticket ... pretty scary if you ask me ...


and if you check the statistics the average age of new smokers is 12 which means that children are starting to smoke way earlier than 12 .... not too mention the number of children under 16 that have to suffer the effects of second hand smoke ...

and with this passing what then becomes next ... if you are under the age of 16 you are unable to carry a gun on private property ... think about that ... no more hunting on the farm....

i do agree with one of your points this is a issue of supervision on private property.... if my child is on public property- yes, give me and the child a fine ----it should be my choice on my property ....

I did read your post and saw that you made your children wear helmets. I'm glad to hear that. So do we...Our oldest will be 5 this month so he is not old enough to be riding an ATV just yet. He only rides a bike & skateboard.

You say that this law has nothing to do with child safety and rather a way for government to come onto your property without a warrant...that is your interepretation of it...I don't think its about government finding another way to come onto your property. I honestly thinks its a way to convince more parents of the safety of helmets and to help prevent more deaths. Officials are trying to scare people into using helmets. They shouldn't have to do this because obviously parents should know that their children as well as themselves need to wear helmets. But believe me and I'm sure you know this as well that there are people out there that have no business being parents but they are still parents. There are a whole lot of uneducated/unaware people in this world. I think this law is meant for them.

I also agree with what you are saying about smoking. There definitely should be more strict laws against smoking. I'm all for it.

As far as more and more laws coming into place, I think some if not most of them are necessary...We seem to have an overpopulation of idiots parading around as parents...
