Mayfield vs. Fairview (1A State Championship) 11/30
Go Dawgs Wrote:I have not commented on this thread to this point, but it's getting hard for me to be silent. Some of you Mayfield fans need to slow down a little. Fairview is a very good football team. I watched them play Friday night and was very surprised at the speed of the backs, but the size of their line is just as much of a factor. Of course, I realize Mayfield is a super team as well. Both teams have a great deal of ability. Barring excessive turnovers, this one ends up being very close.

As for the East not getting any credit from the West I really don't understand. Mayfield has played in the last 3 title games, with a 1-2 record. Recently the East has been good enough, wouldn't you say???

I would say that the east is good enough for sure, they got to the game so they deserve some recognition for that but I think most of us Mayfield fans are doing what we do, breaking down a team and seeing how we match up against em. Its kinda frustrating to just hear "Fairview is a good team, they will win" when we don't get much of a reason to back that up. If you are interested in seeing how Mayfield does against a team that runs the wing-T well, go to maxpreps and watch our game against Warren Central. From the film I have seen, Fairview is not a Warren Central, but neither are most teams in the state. While you are there, check out the Tilghman game and see if the speed on both sides of the ball is not impressive.
