That's the thing,they don't have to uproot their family. I never did. I went to the work, and traveled back and forth. Guys that are afraid to leave home to find work are just afraid another will move in on them. Most will lay around and bitch about the government, instead of finding work.

That's true for a lot of people but not everyone. I don't know what kind of job you have, but I tried insurance adjusting a few years ago when I was laid off then. The potential to make a lot of money was there.. But the weather wasnt' permitting. And I couldn't run to another state on the hope that something would happen. Because the company didn't furnish your hotel room and all that.

But one thing i'm pretty sure of is this, Miners have a pretty good right to bitch about government. Without permits you can't mine. Without the epa's consent the permits don't get released. Somebody decided to raise the guidelines immensely for the epa. or however that worked. So by default mines get shut down.. Thousands of workers get displaced. this isn't just a couple hundred people either. a lot of people..

So if you have an area the size of, let's say pike floyd, johnson, and martin county.. and 75% of that population relies on an industry to stay afloat, then something happens and let's say that 25% of the 75 lose their job, what happens then?/

I'm throwing numbers around.. not real stats

but anyways, who have all these displaced workers looking for work. the competition becomes stiff. on top of that a lot of these guys only have the skills to work in a certain area. If somebody is hiring then they get to have their picks.. everyone left is just stuck..

So while I can appreciate your will to travel and work, it's just not made for everyone that is out of work.
