Next coach at Perry Co. Central?
#61
Luttrell would be a good Choice for Perry Central but he would also be a good choice for Middlesboro if Roark leaves for Perry Central
#62
I think Perry would benefit more with a coach that ran primarily a Spread Offense. We dont have any big bruising running backs with speed. We have mostly small guys with speed like Rankin. Keep Rankin back their with QB and spread the field out.

I hate to say it because I consider him a pretty close friend but the better question MVP is would PCC want anything to do with hiring Ben Howard? I did, however, have the same thought. I do not see it happening and honestly hope that it doesn't. Ben needs a major change of scenery and he will not get that at PCC where his reputation will precede him.

Yogibear Wrote:He played some good defense but he is more of an offensive type guy. Wing T.

I'm sorry but I can't think of anyone running the Wing T being classified as an "offensive guy" :yikes:
#65
I just meant that he runs his offense and has someone else do the defense not that it was a great offense or that he was great at it just that he calls his own plays. He is a system guy that will run the wing T no matter what.

You don't know much about the w-t then. You can throw 40 times a game or run 40 times. If PCC has a bunch of smaller quick kids then it would be perfect for them. The offense is designed to score 1 of every 10 plays. The W-T was ran by several teams in the State games this year.

Luttrell resigned shortly after accepting the Estill Co. job because of health issues not sure he's looking to get back into the game, but I think he posts on here so hopefully he will tell us what's up!
#68
Still think they will hire within the system to save a little money. 3 great former coaches/players will be great hires for PCC.
Head Coach- Paul Chaney
Defense Coach- Kevin Duff
Special Teams-Bob Dixon(I'm sure he learned a lot from Mark)
#69
On the contrary, I think Mark learned a lot from Bobby. Bobby was a heck of a player.

Chaney would do a good job along with Duff and Dixon. I still think they should bring in John Carroll and let him make all these necessary changes that he has talked about in his previous posts. He seems to be up for the challenge and has been coaching football the past couple years. Maybe these other guys could be his assistant coaches.

I would be scared for my life if i played for these 3 and made a mistake.

Yeah they need to save some money in the Perry County School system so they can go out and hire some more basketball coaches. Hoop it up baby.
#72
I will say this, if I was ever offered the job at PCC, I would take it in a heartbeat and you would not have to ask me twice, not to mention, I would not be looking for another head coaching job after 1, 2 or 5 years, that's my hometown and I WANT to be there to build a program that I honestly believe that can succeed with basketball as the front runner... I would want Football first people around me and I do believe that's some of the names listed above.... However, if the administration wants to go in a different direction, then that's fine, but I want that program to be successful....
#73
I agree with Warmachine, I think that Mark learned a lot from Bobby Keith about football and I think that Bobby would make an excellent coach on the football field...
#74
Well they still haven't build a football field yet. They are still using the old MC Napier field right?

1)God
2)Family
3)Cougar Athletics!

Everything else doesn't matter![/COLOR]

Yeah they are still using that big super facility at Airport Gardens.

I want to cast my vote for Warmachine to be the next coach. He seems to know the personnel and their capabilities as players. I would suggest that he get Duff and Dixon to assist him along with Scotty Mac as strength coach. All of these hires would be inside the school system. :1:

That is FUNNY!!!! Sounds real good Hub I think you know all of them very well LOL

Chapman from pike central would be a great choice.

Him and Hollan both are making too much money in Pikeville to try and move to Perry County. :lmao:
I think Hollan is doing the same thing he was doing at Perry and making $12,000 more than he was while he was their. Crazy pay scales are that different.

I think they need to hire Harvey Colwell from the Board of Education. He may be the greatest football player to come through Buckhorn High School in the last 40 years.

I am ready to get back into the game. There are several really good opportunities. My bottom line is I want to teach young men about becoming men of character. Take out the win at all cost and learn that if you do the right things for the right reasons and work your butt off that good things will happen and winning and losing will take care of itself. That you are responsible for representing yourself and your team on and off the field and that means in the class room and out in public. If there is a place that needs this, I want to be there. By the way, don't try and make a scheme fit your players. You find something that your players fit well in and can have the opportunity for success. I do call myself a wing t man but it is not Deleware and really is so multiple maybe just that multiple, with a wing t base. If your small, use angle blocking and deception. If you have speed, can throw and protect, spread it out, BUT YOU STILL HAVE TO HAVE A RUNNING GAME! I just want to help young men learn about honor, integrity, selfless-service, and duty. I have seen enough death and destruction for 10 lifetimes. I want to give to our next generation and make them men of character.

 I agree. You can make everything about winning. As long as you make it about winning by doing all of the things you are supposed to do to be successful because at the end of the day you truly do have to do things the right way. I think that is the problem with a lot of coaches and people who deal with youth athletics today; they try to say that there is too much emphasis on winning but what they do not realize is that there should be more emphasis on the work and effort it takes to win.
#84
Absolutely right, you got it.

I'm curious. Who are you? PM me.

How good of a Coach do you think Little Al Holland would be? He is now back in town isn't he? He has a great background in the game and don't know if he has any asperations of ever being a coach, but this would be a good opportunity for him to throw his name in the hat if he did. At least he would stay for a while and not come for a couple years to move on to something else like others in the past at Perry.

I would like to know who in this world believes they should campaign for a job on a message board. I mean really. I 'm bettin the super is on here right now takin notes on who he should hire for the job.
#88
Well HUB, I am not campaigning for any job on here. I am simply answering the question from Patriot. I am John Luttrell, live in Harlan, KY (can give you the address and/or phone number), if you want to go into this further. You know you really can have adult conversations on here without being demeaning or saying things that you have no clue about. At any rate, Patriot I have applied for a few jobs. I have said this before, I served my country in 3 combat tours and I know God has brought me through these for a reason. I just have to rely on him. I hope I did not offend you HUB.
#89
I know Coach Lutrell and I feel he would be a great coach for Perry Cent. A lot of schools wish they had him. Estill hired him but for person reasons couldnt do it. It is closer to home for him and I hope he gets it.
#90
Folks, I have not applied for the Perrry County job. Maybe I should, Hazard is my roots. My mom and dad (Gurney and Carolyn [Perkey] were born and raised there. My Uncle Mike is the retired State Police commander there. Plus, my uncle Sam was a pretty good player at Hazard.
