Shelby Valley 60 - Knott County Central 57
Lucky7 Wrote:Congrats to Shelby Valley they are the best team in the mountains and will be at Rupp come March.

As for Knott County they played well just to get beat by three. As for KCC being the best team in the 14th I am not sold. They defeated Hazard by 17 or 18 earlier in the year and Hazard was only down three with under a minute to go in the WYMT. PCC seems to be slumping but Coach Hatcher will improve this team. When it is all said and done I think that PCC or the ever improving Hazard bulldogs will win the 14th region.

BEAVERMAN Wrote:I think Logan Bartrum needs to play a lot more for Knott. He is the heart and soul of this team.

Lol.
catfan1 Wrote:Great game and great basketball atmosphere in this game. Two very good teams who both struggled throughout. Knott fell behind and I did not think they were going to make a game of it. Valley seemed to fall apart in the 3rd quarter and let Knott back in the game. Cox and Justice both struggled. Knott did not have a good shooting night from the 3. Varney was the difference maker in my opinion, where did he come from? Thats the best I have seen him play all season. I think if these two play again, it would be another great game on any floor. Definetly #1 and #2 in the mountains!!

Knott didn't struggle from the 3. They just didnt shoot many. SV struggled though.
Bartrum's probably the best defender on the team and he can score when needed. He struggled offensively last night however
Dawggie Wrote:Was this when #12 for Knott was out of the game? He is a good player but lacks the experience and intensity that Bartrum and other players on the bench have to play in this game. This is the only move of Fraley's that I questioned.

I'm just saying that Knott plays better when Bartrum is on the floor.
superfreak Wrote:In my opinion there wasn't one d1 player on the floor last night.

Louisville, Army, Jacksonville, and Eastern seem to think otherwise. I'm sure you will understand if I trust their opinion over yours...
Jeter_theman Wrote:Those are the same bunch of thugs that sit in the stands during baseball games and taunt and say things about opposing player's parents. A couple of boys are on the baseball team. And the rest play football. I was there and witnessed one of them throw one of the basketballs that the cheerleaders were throwing into the stands, right at the SV bench. SV took the ball and held onto it. They didn't throw it back at the thugs. Looks like they should ban them. But, hey... that's the Knott Admin for ya.

Congrats to SV. KCC fought hard, but couldn't pull this one out. A big congrats to Tate Cox on the Sportsmanship reward. Maybe the thugs should learn something from this great young man.

:lmao:
king360 Wrote:Even though you are directing it towards Perry ill give you that. And I will say Knott right now looks like the best in the 14th, won't get any arguments from me. On a different note, did anyone see those boys in the Knott pep section arguing and cussing at a little kid?

No i didn't but did see adults from Valley yelling at and one flipping off kids in KCC pepe section.
Congratulations to our precious Valley Cats! Great game KCC! Tate, Stuart, Zach, you guys were amazing and played your hearts out! We love you guys! You all showed such talent, class and character last night! I wish a lot of the fans and adults from both sides would take some lessons from you guys!
Some advice to all of the players from the song "These are the Words I Would Say"

"Be strong in the Lord.
Never give up hope.
You're going to do great things,
I already know cause
God's got His hand on you,
so don't live life in fear.
Forgive and forget but don't forget why you're here!
Take your time and pray!
Thank God for each day!
These are the words I would say! "
I pray that we can all remember that when this temporary life ends and we step out into eternity that God doesn't really care how many games we have won or lost, but how we have honored Him with the lives He has given us! You guys are amazing works of our Father and I know that He smiles when He looks down upon you! Keep working hard and honoring God and great things will happen for you!
Overrated Wrote:Nice comeback from KCC. Valley is a lot better than i realized..Congrats on the WYMT Valley.

IMO Knott Central is better than what I thought because if Shelby Valley was as good as there made out to be and are in the rankings they should have won by 20! So GOOD GAME Knott Central!

Best post on here.:flame:
jump_shot5 Wrote:Some people can not accept the fact that other than the first quarter Knott gave Shelby Valley a run for their money. I hate that Knott lost but I love the fact that they gave it their all. I'm not one to blame the refs but they seemed to want to protect Valley. I guess they thought that because they are the #1 team in the state that they don't foul or commit turnovers.
Elisha finally found someone who can guard him as well. Way to go Logan Bartrum for playing some amazing defense.

Are you serious? The refs treated Tate like he was the golden boy. If the game had been called straight up SV would have won by double digits. :please:

Give me a break. You just need to accept the fact that Shelby Valley does have compeition within the mountains. SV may be awesome, but they aren't the only ones. There are more teams besides KCC that can give them a run more their money/beat them here. Get outside the 15th and you might find that out more often in the mountains.

No doubt.

I agree.

I would guess Tate is treated in the 14th the way Elisha is in the 15th.
memphistiger Wrote:i think this should silence the haters of knott. few more shots go down and knott woulda won this game. but they didnt. valley is a tough team, this could be a moral victory for knott. come back from 20+ and lose by 3 to the best team in team in the mountains, ill take that effort.

Agreed..But on Wymt they said SV was #1 in the state??
Aslan Wrote:I have no idea. He's not good. He just loves attention and thats the only way he's going to get it because when Knott plays a decent team he won't be doing much scoring. He didn't even start tonight. I bet that was a big hit to his ego. :lmao:

I guess Hazards not a decent team???
theVILLE Wrote:Agreed..But on Wymt they said SV was #1 in the state??

Dont fall for that crap. :dontthink:dontthink
Aslan Wrote:I disagree with your entire post.
Nobody can guard Justice. He was splitting doubles all night. Bartrum is a good defender, but he can't guard Justice. Justice was missing shots he usually its and not getting the calls when he went to the goal.
& the refs protected the HOME team.

Yea the Home team on the score board maybe!!Which was Valley??I thought bartrum done great on elisha, While bartrum was defenfing him i remember 1 FG from elisha
Congrats do SV..You guys will make some noise at rupp??As long as your not playing KCC ill cheer for ya...KCC keep your heads high...Down 22 points and battle back to 2 points..thats great!! Had the miracle shot from 3/4 Court not went, or KCC would have made free throws, or KCC would have played 4 quarters they would have won...Also Cox had an OFF game as did Elisha..Congrats to SV on there WYMT CLASSIC!!!
We talk about Justice and Cox having off nights which they both did miss open shots. Something that's not been discussed is how much some of these players have played with each other and how well they know each other. Could have had something to do with it.

Had Elisha scored his usual 20, SV played better defense, or SV made some more FT's this wouldn't have been a game. EXCUSES EXCUSES!
I'd like to see SV and Oak Hill play, Would be a classic.

Maybe Oak Hill Ohio.

Elisha, Tate, Ashley, Taylor, Tyler, Cody, Stuart, Zach, have all played AAU together, most of them have been together since they were 8 or 9 years old. These boys love and respect each other and are top notch kids! They are all a class act and are like family with all of the traveling they have done together. If it wasn't for Robert and Greg Newsome, these boys wouldn't have as much experience and talent that they have with all of the planning and work that they put into AAU. Great kids and great parents! Just one of many God's greatest blessings to be associated with such awesome people!

This is true! This is why last night when I was trying to police people in the pep section I was like, GUYS WE LIKE SV! WE DON'T NEED TO BE MEAN! lol.

It was a fun, hard fought game between to friendly schools. I'm good friends with/played with most of the players you mentioned up there and they are all great people in addition to athletes. That's something great that both KCC and Valley have going for them, we have great, dedicated people.

If you substitute Tate for Elisha then you have the same argument for KCC. EXCUSES EXCUSES!

Both teams played hard and worked well with their flagship players not being at 100%. Great game by both teams.
