Shelby Valley 60 - Knott County Central 57
Aslan Wrote:This years team is completely different than last years.

I'm just saying people wanted to know, so now they know.
First I watched this game and I was pulling for Valley being from Pike County and the 15th but wasn't going to lose sleep either way but Knott certainly got the majority of the calls. Justice was bumped and elbowed all game but hey you must adjust.
And Justice does make quiet a bit of a difference, this is the worst game I've seen him play shooting wise, he missed a lot of shots and open ones at that. But the thing he does is not just scoring but nobody could trap him and he continually got his players open shots. He really is a pass first player and the best player in the mountains.
BTW Knott is a tremendous team but I must agree that this would be a 15-20 point win on a neutral court, not trying to knock your guys win, just my honest opinion.

Justice had more around him last year.

Yeah, so did Tate and Stuart

Milk???? lol.

The man that picked Whitaker's pocket... lol
and Jarred Amburgey.
This was probably the MOST physical high school basketball game I have ever seen. Both teams fought hard and both got away with a lot.

Haha, true.
Imo Knott's big guys produce more than they did last year. Ratliff and Roberts.

I agree with that too. Roberts has improved a lot and will be a force come march.

He can be. He has a ton of talent. He's just yet to put it together. Personally I hope he starts getting it together next year, not this post season Big Grin

Congrats SV, you guys almost made a joke of the WYMT by killing everyone.

Congrats KCC for 2nd

Congrats to Hazard for 3rd

and The Knox Perry tie for, what 5th? I guess...you'll get them next time horn

..like I said.
Wow, what a finish! It looked like Valley was going to run away with it early, but they seemed to let up a bit when they got the big lead. Then in the third period, SV shoots 1-12 from the floor, and all of a sudden we've got a ballgame.

Congrats to Knott for not folding the tents when they got down 32-10, and congrats to SV for getting it back together when they needed it the most at the end. SV needs games like this, blowing through the 15th region won't help them much come March.

As for the poster who stated that having Elisha didn't make much of a difference, did you watch this game? Even when he was having an off-night shooting, he still made plays on both ends of the court and willed his team to the win. That's what was missing last year when they played, and is why the outcome was different this year.

Good luck to both teams in their respective regions.

I said that he made a difference, go check the post, just not as HUGE of a one like some people thought. No doubt he handled the ball and executed offense better for Valley, but Knott won by 8-10 without him, lost by 3 in a close game with him. He just didn't destroy KCC like people thought he would. Not taking away anything from him, he played very well, Knott is just a very good team as well.

Justice had a terrible game by his standards, you have to remeber that. He don't miss that many wide open shots often.
Was really excited to watch this game. Thought after the first quarter KCC was going to let Valley run way with it. But with some good play by Sr guard Stamper and other KCC players they were able to bounce back and make this one an exciting game. Also notice that Tate Cox seem to struggle didnt really look like he was mentally in the game didnt really play well the whole tourney though..But good game from both teams it was a well fought battle an should be no argue of who should have won.

You can say the exact same thing about Tate
Why was the kid that was guarding Justice in the fourth quater slapping the floor..does he think that was going to give him the edge?
All you all saying that this game would be different on a neutral floor, fine, but seriously, I wish people would stop giving a **** what refs are doing. The players cannot do anything about that. You cannot change how refs call games. There will always be judgement calls that people will argue about. You can't do anything about it. The players can't either.

The officiating in this game was fine. KCC got away with some and Valley did too. Refs aren't perfect guys. I refuse to blame refs for a loss.

Bartrum is a very emotional player lol

I have no idea. He's not good. He just loves attention and thats the only way he's going to get it because when Knott plays a decent team he won't be doing much scoring. He didn't even start tonight. I bet that was a big hit to his ego. :lmao:

The refs were in Knotts favor. I didn't have a horse in this race. When Perry loses I also refuse to blame the refs though.

Ive watched KCC and Bartrum play a couple games and have noticed he plays with a lot of emotion and in big games like that he likes to pump the team up and him self. Slapping floor is one thing ive seen the kid do in 2 or 3 games ive watched.

I pretty much highlighted your entire post because you don't have a clue what you are talking about. IMO he should have started tonight. Quit being an arrogant little sore loser. He plays just as much a mind game as he does a ball game and does well with both. If i'm right btw he dealt quite a bit and even was the leading scorer in a few big games this season, so just stop bashing players.
PATS2011 Wrote:Bartrum is a very emotional player lol

I loved the floor slapping. You're going up against one of the best PG's in EKY history and you're going to start slapping the floor? I just thought it was funny.

Whatever! & how am I being a sore loser? lol. Cmon.

And I never said you posted that he wouldn't make a difference, what I posted was that it had been implied that his presence didn't make that much of a difference. Which is certainly the way your original post sounded like to me. I disagree, I thought his presence made a HUGE difference.

For one thing, just look at the result. Without him last season, they lost. At the time, I said that with a healthy Justice, SV would have won that game, and I stand by that statement. The difference is in the intangibles he brings. Even when he's not hitting open shots, he still helps his team in so many other ways. That's why you can lose to a team one year on a neutral court without Justice, then turn around and beat that same team on their floor the next year when he is playing.

And I'm not taking anything away from Knott. They are a very good team, no doubt the second best in the mountains, and it's not a huge gap between them and SV. But that's exactly why Justice was important. In a game against a team as talented as KCC, you simply can't expect to play the game without your best player and walk out with a win. Thankfully, this year SV didn't have to.

No reason to be hating on the kid when all hes doing is trying to pump his team up and no hes not the best player in the world but hes a good role player and he always comes out and does what he can do to help his team out. I also dont think you have to do alot of scoring to be a great player. IMO hes a very tough defender and give it his all on the court.
