Preseason Mr. Basketball Favorites

goldenrule19 Wrote:First of all Scott County does not double team any player! They did not double OJ Mayo in 2007 when he played Scott County and they did not double team Justice. Maybe you was thinking of the half court trap that Coach Hicks runs somethings. Plus Justice was not the one making shoots against Scott County it was his teammates. Coach Hicks played 12 players in both games. Ge'lawn never was on Justice unless it was a trap. You are the one that looks retard thinking he is the best player in the State . I will say it again Justice maybe the 4th to 10th best player in State. For you or anyone to put Justice over Ricardo, Ge'lawn and Pittman is very retard! :please:

well you probably wouldn't at that game then. because justice might not have had alot of points but he racked up the assists. and yes he was geting double teamed it might have been that trap but when 2 players is defending you it is a double team just so you know. ge lawn wasn't the one guarding him but he was coming up and double teaming him to try and get it out of his hands. that is when he would split them. after he got by those 2 he had 2 open guys to pass the ball to because someone else would come up to pick him up. i was there. so don't go running your mouth on stuff you don't know.
the only reason you say this stuff is proobably cause you are from scott county and just seeing a mountain player doing good like this you get jealous because you were probably no good at basketall and sat the bench your whole career. :lmao:

You can't be serious. Playing a scrimmage and a real game are two completely different things.

The only good in state team that Valley plays this year is Christian Co. And I know for a fact SV received an invitation to the KOB. Why would they decline that offer to play in an out of state tournament that probably is no where near the level of the KOB?

Like I said before...Booher really hurt Justice chances by not scheduling tougher opponents. He isn't going to win Mr. Basketball playing against weak 15th region competition.

While the Holmes boys have great physical ability, I was not overly impressed the 3 games that I saw. Not a knock, just my simple observation. If I were to HAVE to pick right now, based on my observations, it would be Guyn and then Justice. As far as splitting votes with Jackson and Euton, I highly doubt that. Those two are nowhere near Guyn, IMO. They are not SERIOUS Mr. Basketball contenders. And where is Johnson going to school again.....?

Of course Justice was the most impressive player at the sweet 16 last year to an EKY fan. If you ask people from nky, cky, or wky though, they'll tell you that Jarrod Polson was the most impressive pg at the Sweet 16 last year. He led his team to the state semi's and had no where near the talent around him that Justice has.

You obviously lack basketball knowledge or don't know talent when you see it if you think the Johnson Brothers and Pittman weren't impressive at the state tournament:

J. Johnson averaged 13 ppg and 8 rpg.

R. Johnson averaged 13 ppg and 9 rpg. (15 and 13 against Christian Co, 15 and 11 against Lexcath)

Pittman averaged 15 ppg and 10 rpg. (23 and 13 v EC, 14 and 11 v Central, 13 and 9 v Lexcath)

Those three were the three most productive players in the state tournament.

R. Johnson is signed to go to Ohio University. He also had offers from Western KY, Bradley, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Akron, and Marshall to name a few. Pretty sure R. Johnson had the most offers in KY and was the most heavily recruited player in the state before signing with Ohio. Keep in mind that he would've earned even more offers during his senior year.

Booher's ego would not allow him to turn down an invite to the KOB. IMO

^^^ Good post Tezzy

I think if anyone wins the award other than Johnson it will be Justice.

When I spoke to Lloyd Gardner (Director of KOB), he said an invitation was sent to SV but they "respectfully declined the offer due to other arrangements."

No disrespect to the Florida tourney they're playing in but I doubt it compares to the KOB. The KOB was rated by USA TODAY as one of the top 10 best holiday tournaments in the country.

We probably dont agree on many things but we do agree on this.....They may play good competition in Florida but the KOB would be so much more competitive and a state tournament like atmosphere. In my opinion Justice is as good as any player in the state. Take him to the biggest tourney other than the Sweet Sixteen and let him show it. If your info is correct then Booher has really hurt his player.

And I agree 100% with you here as well. You have a great player like Justice and a top 10 team...why not play in state and get them more recognition? Who cares if you take a loss or two. Every team in the tournament is going to finish with atleast 1 loss unless you win the tourney.

I personally don't think Justice will win Mr. Basketball, but it isn't from a lack of talent...it's going to be because of a lack of exposure around the state and a lack of strength of schedule. Booher has indeed hurt Justice chances of winning.

Look at Holmes for example:

They make two trips to Western Kentucky to play Memphis Central at Warren Central and they play Bowman Academy, IN @ Marshall Co.

They travel to central Kentucky to play @ Mason Co and against Christian Co @ Montgomery Co.

They play in Louisville in the King of the Bluegrass.

Then, they have their traditional tough nky/9th region schedule and as long as they win the region they'll be seen in Lexington as well.

That's 5 different parts of the state that writers and voters will be able to see Pittman and R. Johnson. That's why I feel they have an advantage over all of the other candidates.

Ge'lawn Guyn plays all over the State and the Nation this year! He also has one of the top college in the SEC about to offer in the next two weeks. He also has a top college in the ACC and Big Ten coming next week. The head coaches are coming. All he needs to do is go out and play. Mr. Basketball is a great award that needs to go to the best player in 2010! Good Luck!:1:

That is a pretty good five to pick from.
Either one of them could win it.
