Johnson Central 2010
#31
IMO, JC should go in the shotgun with Cody Parker at QB. The kid has a rocket launcher attached to his shoulder. Put JK Hall and JJ Jude in the backfield, one to each side of him, run draws and sweeps, speed options etc. with these two. Find some kids who can get down field and catch the ball. If anybody wants proof of how successful this offense can be, look back to Prestonsburg in 2001. They had one rush for over 2,000 yards (Matt Slone) and another go over 1,000 (Mikael Fannin), and the QB (Joey Willis) had almost 2,000 yards passin if I'm not mistakin.

As long as the JC family stays on the same page and Matney calls the signals the program will flourish. As to how far they can fly, only tiime will tell. Redistricting ,new regular season opponents;who knows?

Your right that he does, there may not be a better arm anywhere, but it would be disasterous to put him in that position.

I think catching the ball next year will be more in the cards for him, rather than throwing it. He has great hands.

Johnson Central is like Belfry! Live and die by the run, if you don't like it, then stop them. That has always been there offense with Matney.

For the most part yeah, but he had a QB at Sheldon Clark, whom at one time set some state passing records. Whether they are still records or not, I dont have any idea, but at one time they were. But for the most part, your right, he has been run oriented.

He has been more successful with the run over the course of his career.

With all the skill players back all Matney has to do it put a line togather. Since these kids have faced the best KY has to offer, I look for big things from this bunch, even a State Championship. Alot depends on their off season work ethic.

So who throws it to him? If a team only throws the ball a couple of times a game, why waste a top athlete at wide out?

J.K. Hall is the team's premier athlete. Whether he runs it, throws it, or just hands off, I'd rather him touch the ball at some point every play. Plays can be run to get the ball to Parker, even if he doesn't catch it (reference the way Ian Welch was used, lining up in the backfield, running end-arounds, etc.), but he isn't the speed threat that Hall and Jude are. He is a big target with good hands, however.

Makes sense to me.

He's a 6'5" tight end.

I was wondering if the Sanor kid has potential at QB and can he throw the ball. With Hall, Jude and Bratton in the backfiled and Parker at end, this could be a veristile team. Mix a few passes in to keep the D honest for the run and this team could be really tough.

Since the season turned out pretty good do you think JC will keep Boyle on the schedule??

I think it will be played!
#47
I hope so. This will be good for a young Boyle team to face adversity on the road early in the year. I think this helped JC in the long haul last year going on the road early against a high quality opponent.

Where do any of you feel the "holes" are for next season? And, Who are some players that can fill these holes? I think the defense should be strong next season. Remember, we started 2 freshman and several sophomores. In my opinion the line( both sides) will lose the most. Last question. With one of the largest freshman classes in years coming next year ( if a majority come out ), Who will be some impact freshman players? Looking forward to a great season.

Jc has a great 8th grade class comming in next year, and some could start at any high school next year get excited jc fans great things to come!

IF JC has to rely on frshman next year I don't think they'll be the second best team in 5A again:popcorn:
#52
I really don't think they will rely on them, but they will contribute to the success of the team. Special Teams is a good place for freshman to start helping the team.

Really a 5A team playing Freshman anywhere doesn't sound very good
#54
A freshman started this year on the o line!

Yeah, yeah, yeah smart guy. You guys finished #2 on something yourselves. What's the reason you weren't #1. Does that make you all 1st losers?

Honestly the freshman that did play on nthe line is a manchild. Those come around every now and then. Uh, John Walls may be the best player in college basketball too, huh? What grade is he in again?

Honestly, as good as the 8th grade class is coming in, I dont think there are going to be any of those in the lineup, with maybe the exception of a lineman. We do have some huge 8th grade linemen that will be entering highschool next year. But you never know, Matt King proved to be a hoss this year.

Really comparing a college freshman to a freshman in high school?
by the way my team was somewhere around the 65 best team in 5A:Thumbs:

Got about the same age span among the participants. I've got two sons playing college ball, I know what I'm getting at, do you? Most college freshmen are not as physically mature as college upperclassmen, just as most high school freshmen are not as mature and physically developed as high school upperclassmen, but examples sometimes prove the otherwise in both cases. Dennis Johnson practiced with the varsity at Harrodsburg when he was in 2nd grade, did he not? He played varsity in what, the 6th grade? It was legal back then.

Oh, sorry for your team. I thought you were a supporter of a 5A team that could actually compete with JC. My apologies.

Started three years in college does that count:eyeroll:
College Basketball is vastly different than college football. Freshman regularly play basketball on the college level but are a rairity on football field.
Again if any football team relys on freshman to plug holes they are not one of the elite teams in any class
