Looks like we have a 6-3 Team from the best 4A Dist. in the State and a 9-0 Team from a Dist. that is not so strong. Neither Team seems to be getting the Respect they deserve. My question is, would Lawrence Co. be 9-0 if they had played the same people McCreary Central has played. IMO they woiuld also have 3 losses. Lawrence Co. has some really good skilled people. McCreary Central also has some good skilled people, Watts and Roark both 1000+ yrd. Rushers. They have 2 very good receivers in Goins and Stephens. Should be a good Game. It's hard to ride 4 hrs and then play Football, but McCreary Central is looking Fwd. to the trip. This could be a good one.

That is true. Someone mentioned earlier that the 4th seed from district 7 has 6 (probably 7 at the end of this week) wins!!!
I will say this and you will probably never hear another Rocket fan say this, so soak it in a little: Rockcastle is OVERRATED this season. They only have 4 wins over (3-6) Wayne County, (1-8) Lincoln County, (6-3) McCreary Central, (1-8) Madison Southern.
Grant it, Rock has played a decent schedule and had some "good" losses: Scored more points against Boyle county than anyone else this season, a last second heart-breaker at home against Pulaski County, a 1 point overtime loss to Knox Central and a 7 point loss in Somerset to Southwestern on their senior night.
Rockcastle fans realize that they are 14 points away from a 7-2 record!:yikes: Because they lost by 6 to PC on a last second TD pass and they lost in overtime by 1 to Knox Central, and they just lost by 7 to SW last week.

I'm not taking back any comments, I live with no regrets. I don't regret saying anything but you said you were going to give us respect but when was that coming? No big deal I love life buddy, I'm not on here to argue with some guy or girl that I don't even know.

I'm not trying to argue with you. I was having some fun. It was all meant as a laugh.
I do think we will see you guys in the playoffs. That's the respect I'm giving Lawrence. They have had an unbelievable turnaround.

Ok I appreciate that, Bell County has always had a great team ,and when you play them you are against not just them but their tradition they have had. They are an excellent well coached team.

Rowan went to camp with Knox at Feltner. Not Jabezz.
MCC will surprise a few in Louisa, not saying they will win but Watts and Roark are pretty dang good.

I agree anytime you have 2 1000+ yd. rushers in one backfield you are dangerous. MCC will put up a huge fight.

I agree McCreary has impressed me this year. Obviously they are not up to the challenge of beating Knox, Rock, or Bell but there are very few 4A teams in the state that are. Bell is playing some of the best ball I have ever seen them play. Knox is down a little from last year but very tough, and Rock as always has a solid team. I know McCreary my have played what some considered a cake schedule but for them this was no cake schedule at all. They played teams this year that would have destroyed them in years past. They have come a long way in the last couple of years from barely beating teams with single digit power ratings to competing and beating teams that they would not have even had a chance with. McCreary has a very dynamic offense and is capable of scoring anywhere on the field. Their defense is lacking a little but all you have to do is score more points thant he other team to win. This game might be a shootout and come down to who can score quicker.

I didnt' mean sound like I was taking anything away from Lawrence County. They have done very well this year turning their program around. A 9-0 season is a great accomplishment. I think this will be a great game to watch I just wish Louisa wasn't so far away. The thought of that drive is horrifying. :yikes:

Where are you from Dozer Boy? just curious

I live just a few minutes North of Oneida Tn. I grew up in McCreary County.

So do you root for McCreary Central?
10-29-2009, 02:51 PM
I have now seen all the teams in each district that are making the playoff's in some way now except for Rowan.
Some people in the 8th are going to be suprised by
1. How athletic the 2 stars are for McCreary. They are the real deal and can go anytime.
2. How big Knox is. They are big at every postion and move well also.
3. How good the Rock defesne is, although they have been battered this year it has been by some teams that know that defense (as BobcatDad has said they are better than they appear). I am afraid nobody in district 8 knows how to attack it.

I cheeer for all my local teams. Oneida Tn., Scott Co. Tn, Whitley County, McCreary County, Wayne County, Cambell Co. Tn, I even cheer for Knox, Rock and Bell as long as they are not playing McCreary, since they are in McCreary's district and it makes everyone look good:1:. I'm just an old hasbeen who likes to watch and listen to football. I don't have any kids playing at any of the schools so I keep up with them all. Thats why I like this site. I can keep up with how a lot of schools are doing.

If Lawrence and Knox get to play each other I think well have plenty of seats available for Knox.
10-29-2009, 05:57 PM
Just a thought but strange things can happen. Didnt Bell get beat by a 4 seed at home in either 2003 or 2004? I believe it was the year before FT. Thomas beat them with a player that wasnt eligble. If I am wrong please correct me.

HouseofPain Wrote:Have you seen us play? I seriously doubt it! Our 3 losses are against the defending 4-A state champions who no one in KY has beaten in 2 years and we had more offensive yards against them that the other 2 district power houses had. The other 2 losses are from the before mentioned other 2 4-A power houses who in my opinion are both in the top 10 in 4-A but both of them play extremely difficult schedues. Knox played within seconds of beating Bell last year and Rock is a very physical football team with an extremely strong schedule and maybe the only 4-A team to have played Bell and Boyle this year and on top of that they have to play Knox and in their last regular scheduled game they play 5-A Whitley Co. Our program is not a power house but it has been on the climb for a few years now and if the kids stay dedicated to the off season workout program it will continue to get better. I guess we feel kind of like LC we don't get any respect for our accomplishments to date and probably won't get any until we beat one of the big 3 in our district so until then we will keep working hard and we will keep getting better.

Actually I have seen you play and obviously was not impressed. I expressed an opinion and gave my reason for thinking so. I can understand and actually approve of scheduling to pick up some wins and gain some confidence for your team. Smart move. However, my post was to point out that your six win season against less than steller opponents does not qualify you as an equal to an undefeated district champion. At least not in the pre-game discussions. Feel free to prove me wrong come gametime.
I really think you misunderstand the motive behind my post. Congratulations on being a better team than years past. You have indeed gotten better. However, the discussion was, and is, can you advance in the playoffs. I think not and my reason is that your schedule, while serving a purpose, does not prepare you for the type of competition you face in your district or as a four-seed in playoff competition.

I don't think I would be talking about scheduling people just for a win if my team had dropped Breathitt, Belfry and that type team and pick up who Lawrence Co. picked up. McCreary also dropped 4 schools and picked up Edmonson Co. , Wayne Co. Lynn Camp and Powell Co. These were out of necessity because the 4 changes were people who didn't want to play anymore. IMO: Lawrence would have 3 losses if they had played in Dist. 7 . See you next Friday, unless McCreary is too scared to come.:redboxer:

I'm not a Lawrence County fan. You're taking offense where none was intended. I do not believe MCC can beat Lawrence and since others were giving MCC's record as a reason they thought McCreary would win, I explained my reasoning that it is not. Simple enough.
I watched the MCC/KC game and KC totally stopped your two big weapons, the offense put up big numbers and the line play was totally in KC's favor. The Massey ratings would have a Lawrence/Knox game in favor of LC by a TD or less. I think that's probably pretty close. Would be a good game if it happens.
And no, you want see me next Friday unless you go different game.
