There is a new article about Channing visiting Purdue on Rivals. Its a pretty nice read.

Monday(i think it was) Louisville had a scout in the Den watching Channing and today another scout from Stanford was there to watch him. Also he had some letters from some other schools, ill get the names of them here in a bit.

I was reading about this as well.

I noticed it didn't have him listed as a running back no more. Any one know why?
04-29-2009, 03:21 PM
I dont think it has him listed as anything. It just says NR which means not rated, meaning he isnt rated yet as a RB. Rivals rate the player but I dont guess they have gotten around to rating him.

What's Channing's top 3 schools as of now?
04-29-2009, 10:14 PM
From what I have read on Rivals, he really like Ill, but he also said that he is wide open and is still hearing from other schools. Top three is a guess here but I would say 1 would be Ill, 2 would be WKU and 3 I would say Purdue. But thats just a guess.

just heard through the grapevine that channing had 2 visitors today, Purdue and WKU
04-30-2009, 11:53 AM
The last time i checked it had him listed as an athelete. I also heard after the visit to illinois that they ask him what he though about playing H instead of RB but idk you know how the whole hear say thing goes.

My guess would be 3* once rankings are revealed.
The state of Kentucky is loaded with probable 3 star players this year it seems. Very good year for talent in the Bluegrass!

I would agree with ya EKU, he might be higher depending on what they list him as, if he is an ath, then he maybe higher, but as a RB I would agree with a 3*.

I think his offer sheet will limit him to 3* status.
It is a very nice list, but 4*'s have already been assigned and to limb to that level it will require offers from some national powerhouse schools (think Ohio State, Florida, Georgia, etc)
For example, check out UK's first football committ.... this kid has a laundry list of BCS offers including Penn State, but he won't even make the4Star standard

Channing is still getting calls from other schools, but the ones who have offerend I would agree that its limited to 3* status. If some of the other school come into his recruitment that are like OSU, UF and UGA, i say his stars will go up. Not saying that they will but its a good possibiliy because he could have another year like the one last year, but in that case he would break the all time rushing record for the state. If that cant earn you 4 or 5 stars i dont know what would.

Louisville called Channing last night at the Breathitt elementary games, and told him they were going to officially offer him a scholarship in the next day or so.

Channing is pretty set on going to Illinoise, from what I have heard around school from other players. I do not think he will go to Louisville.

I don't think that he will play RB in college, I think he more a long the lines of an H back for a college offense. He reminds a lot of Jacob Hester ,former H-back at LSU now with the Chargers. Not going to be a homerun guy but will be used on short yardage and out of the backfield on P.A pass.

I only have watched this young man play once and that was when he was a soph. and was playing against Russell. All I could say then was this kid has unlimited possibilities and was one of the best big backs that I have ever seen. I think he has the best chance of anyone from the east side of the state to win Mr. Football. Now that may no happen only because the majority of the AP guys are up north. The Breathitt fans need to take every chance they have to promote this yound man. Good luck

What do you all think, should he wait and see what other schools come after him, or do you think he should go ahead and sign with a school that has been recruiting him?
05-04-2009, 08:16 PM
wait and see, atleast till Sept. 1. I would go ahead and commit at that time or before... If he didn't his focus might be on college coaches instead of winning football games.............. But I'm not the one deciding, he is......

I think you are wrong on one part 411, Channing has his head on very straight and his mind will be in the games he is playing in.

I hope so, but being recruited and its process going from no serious talks to calling everyday or stopping by could be very overwhelming and definitly takes a toll in the preparation you put in a friday night game..... i'll defend my position:rockon:
this is not to knock him in any way, he is a horse and deserves every offer he gets and more , a uk offer would be nice even if it is for d :argue:

Its very early so im gonna stick it out til end of the season and see how it play's.
05-05-2009, 01:46 AM
I honestly do think he'll be on the other side of the ball in college anyways. NCAA is a buisness, they'll say what you want you to hear but when you sign they will put you where they really think you will help them keep a job....... but what do I know I'm just a waterboy
