I think Hef was the '94 POY, but J.J. is at least 2 and maybe 3 years older than him. So he was the '91 or '92 Player of the Year.

Could '93 have been Steven Staton of Belfry? Did Shawn Scott of Pike Central win this award in '99? My best guess for '97 would be Barry Crum of Belfry, Josh Leathers of Elkhorn City, or Josh MacKenzie of Paintsville.

Shawn Scott's last year was 2001. Could 1999 have been Jonathan Wright from Belfry maybe? Also, 1993 (if not Steven Staton) could have been Shane Hale from Sheldon Clark...

I don't think Valley beats JC or Lawrence at region without Elisha. He scored close to 30 points in each game and Valley was still biting nails until the 4th quarter in each game.

Of all the senior players in the region, Clevenger does have the best numbers and was most valuable to his team. Now I agree that there would still be a debate on the regions best player, which I know all of you will say is Justice, but his time will come next year. Clevenger is a great basketball player and is very deserving of this award. Congratulations Matt, and I hope to see you in a college jersey next year.
