Shelby Valley or Elliott County?
#31
I watched all of the boys All "A". I was gor Valley, but mostly was at the game to watch good basketball. Being from the area somebody asked me going into the game who I thought would win and I said Valley would by double digits, because Elliott don't matchup. They said I was crazy, if Valley made free throws they would have. Elliott couldn't get the shot they wanted becasue the defense forced them to settle and rush their shots. That is why Elliott shot poorly.
So as a neutral fan of basketball I will say Valley is the better of the two, both are good teams. But Valley has eight players to Elliott's five. Valley has more speed at the guard position and is bigger and thicker under the basket. Elliott is the better shooting team, but like a poster said earlier, the advantage stops at that.
Both are good teams though.

It takes 5 players of a "TEAM" to win, just thought I would remind everyone.

What team was that directed at?
I think they both play pretty well as a team as far as it goes. Both teams know the roles and play well together.

Valley. I think now if they played a seris to 10 games, Valley would take 5 or 6. Valley just proved that they was the best team. you all say EC didnt play great, well neither did Valley at the end of the Game. People just need to get over it and stop making excuse. EC is a great team, not taking anything away from them. But you all have to relize that no team is gonna play perfect every night. Valley or EC didnt play to their best. Valley is the best team right now and you all should agree.. Congrats to Valley on a fantatsic game and EC on making it a good game!

That was a pretty good one Big Grin

Due to the fact Valley won the game, they are the better team until next the next time they meet. True, EC has a more high-powered offense. But mix that in with such a stingy defense like SV's and that offsets the balance.

Hint: Win with grace.

TheRealVille Wrote:Those one or two seem to ruin any thread on BGR.

First off, I agree with you that there are a couple of overzealous SV fans on here who like to brag and boast. These fans can get annoying and, to another SV fan like myself, be a little embarrassing.

But don't try to make it like SV is the only school with fans like this. I have seen similar comments on here from numerous schools, including Elliott Co., and including Paintsville. There are folks like that all over the place, not just in Pike County.

Win with grace? I think SV has done that. I also think that many SV fans have felt the need to come on here and defend their school, especially when they read comments from other people that give no credit at all to SV for winning. Instead of SV winning because they were better, they read that Valley only won the game because Elliott "wan't motivated". Do you really blame the SV fans for responding to that kind of insinuation?

Yes, I wasn't clumping all SV fans into that statement, and have spoke to a couple in PM. The ones I spoke to are very classy SV fans. As I told the one guy, if SV makes it to Rupp, I'll be at the game with blue on.(Which isn't a problem for me, I have plenty of blue.)
I said nothing that I haven't said to Paintsville fans also. I would tell PV to win with grace the same as I would tell anybody.

OK. I know you weren't clumping together all SV fans. But you had stated that the reason everyone around here hates SV is due to their fans. I was just pointing out that every school has fans just like that, so SV shouldn't be the target of any more hatred than the other schools.

Well after Valleys win over Elliot in the All A, I think I am going to have to go with SV.

Elliot doesnt have much of a bench.
SV has a pretty deep bench.

Justice from what I have seen is to much for the Faulkner boys.
Ferguson is a great ball player.

Adams showed he could be agressive and can outplay Eliotts big boy if he wants to.

Also I think SV has to much speed for Eliott Co. and all SV boys play hard and step up when they need to.

Gonna go with SV
