Knott Central 58 - Shelby Valley 50

Kyboy13 Wrote:I'll give the respect to KCC, but IMO their not the best team in the Mtns. All their big wins seem to have a "yea but"..........for ex. LCC- Banks only practiced for 5 days............Haz.- Cambell, Martin only practiced a couple a days and whitiker was hurt.........and now valley Justice(who is by far the best player in the mtns.) was hurt soooo yea KCC is for real, but all these wins are great but I don't really think they mean that much. At least not in my opinion.

Campbell was HHS's leading scorer in that game. He played some of his best that night. Whitaker just got shut down. I mean these are all good points but the football ones just don't really matter as much as what they appear to. Football is a different game than basketball and yes it does take time to adjust, but I mean, Banks had 5 days to adjust, and it seemed to not phase campbell. Elisha is a VERY good player a definitely one of the best in the mtns. But KCC just lit it up in the second half.

Love it ! Way to go KCC. Good guys win ! SV is crying tonight. Stop whining and making excuses. The only difference between the two teams is KCC won and SV lost - end of story.:lmao:

I picked this one. Although if Elisha would have played i think the outcome would have been different with Valley on top.

No i gotta disagree.........I dunno if you play basketball or anything, but in letcher co. football season is 4 months long and thats all football no bball. Try going 4 months without playing basketball and getting beat up day in day out then go straight into playing highly competetive basketball games w/ 5 days to get back in the flo. Trust me its a huge disadvantage when you go up against kids like cox and stamper who are strictly bball..........I'm not trying to take anything away from kcc though it may appear that way they're legit. But to say this games mean anything is well......stupid it's just to early in the season.
#66
This was a two point game with just over a minute left. Very close, could have gone either way. SV could not handle the press in the 2nd half without Justice in, the one man press breaker.

Regardless, a win is a win. Outcome probably would have been different if Elisha was able to play... ok, more than probably... but he did not.

I think the DX pre-game was an AC separation, and possible rotater cuff/shoulder tear but no evidence to prove it yet. He could barely list his arm. I am more worried about him being healthy for the FL tournament so they can represent the mountains and put on a good showing there.

I understand your point and there is no denying that the players will get better. But KCC did what they had to do to win and look for them to be better as the year goes on too and rise to the challenges that these players may present. GO PATS!

P.S. thanks for your comment about not taking anything away from us. You are one of the few.

I don't understand the football thing really. I mean Banks was the leading scorer in the LCC-KCC matchup and Campbell was the leading scorer in the Hazard-KCC matchup. Sounds to me like they played pretty good. Anyway I don't think the outcome would have been different if Elisha would have played. I mean sure we didn't see the best they had but they didn't see the best KCC had either. KCC made uncharacteristic turnovers which resulted in the most turnovers they've had all year and they couldn't buy a shot in the first half. I still think the game would've been close had Elisha played, but you won't see KCC shoot 5-24 for a half much this season. Congrats to KCC to the win and good luck to SV in Florida.

Congrats to KCC.

Trust me, the outcome would have been different somehow, had Elisha Justice played this game. He is the #1 ranked player in the 15th region and one of the top juniors in the state. It especially matters when he is the one that runs the offense for Shelby Valley and has for the last 3 years.

Shelby Valley, in my opinion is a better team when healthy, but Knott is a great team, and they won this time and that is all that matters. Congrats.

Any new word on Elisha's injury or when he will play again?

Congrats KCC we get the point about Elisha already, my question is how did the players on the floor play? I mean only 50 points for Valley, injuries are going to happen in sports it's part of it, regroup Valley you still have tons of talent and hopefully Elisha will be back very soon.

KCC isn't the real deal my friend. You guys beat a team without their best player, and he is one of the best players if not the best in the mountains. He is one of the best point guards in the state, and what's a team without a point guard, especially one like Justice.
#72
Congrats KCC.... great win.

Cox with 27

Ok, so we ALL get that IF shelby valley had justice it would be a different outcome. Well IF kcc had stuart at 100% then it could have been a different as well. We won and believe me, every kcc fan knows that justice is the real deal. and now We have proved once again that we can play with the better teams in the state. Every way we turn its"congrats but......" seriously just give your congrats and after 50 thousand "but...." 's stop, cause we get the picture. k? Thanks!

let's see, they beat several top notch team like LCC, Hazard and now Shelby Valley (a W's a W no matter the circumstances). Plus they beat some other teams like JBS ( which mind you, could have been a WHOLE lot worse if they had wanted to).

how can you say they are not the real deal????

Pats2011, I for one think you are the real deal. I've said it before and I'll say it again...... the 14th region is going to be a battle. I think KCC, PCC, Hazard, and maybe LCC (haven't seen or heard them play yet) are so close at the top it's hard to call.

As far as I know, KCC has been full strength all season with their full roster playing together. It just so happens that when you've played these other top teams there have been factors such as injuries and football that raise questions about whether the other team was at 100% to begin with.

And before you get all upset and start saying I'm making excuses and not giving KCC any credit or respect, I believe KCC can play with and beat any of the top teams in the area.

Let's look at it this way..........What would you say if Tate Cox was out of a game and KCC lost by just a few points? KCC has been fortunate to have all their players and be healthy, and I hope it's that way all season.

I understand what you're saying and thanks for your support! You are dead on abt the 14th being a battle. I don't think you are making excuses either, these are some factors that can affect the performance of a team, the greatest I believe being Elisha's absence. i hope he gets well soon! i was just saying to the person whose quote I .. well.. quoted, that we have presented the evidence that we are the real deal, granted some factors such as injury in some of our games. But football didn't make that big of a difference when we played Hazard or LCC.
#78
KNOTT CO IS THE REAL DEAL!!!!! But dude your wrong football does make a huge difference...........cambell and martin only had 3 days of practice b4 they played knott.
#79
When you meet again, the question of football won't even be an issue, and hopefully everybody on both teams will be healthy. I'm ready for another battle like the last. I thought that was a great game...... Knott County won and deserved to win.

Yeah I can't wait for the rest of the season! It's gonna be a good year for the 14th.

WOW!.....congrats patriots....

Congrats Knott Central on a very impressive victory and I'll admit, I thought that Valley would handle Knott without any trouble without Justice, but I was proved wrong.

Stamper was 100%. He just wasn't shooting the ball good. Your not going to shoot it good night in and night out. everyone has there game. Justice would have made a difference once again im going to say it.
I'm tired of hearing about money, money, money, money, money. I just want to play the game, drink Pepsi, wear Reebok -Shaquille O'Neal

Educated Fan Wrote:KNOTT CO IS THE REAL DEAL!!!!! But dude your wrong football does make a huge difference...........cambell and martin only had 3 days of practice b4 they played knott.

Campbell was their leading scorer, so it apparently didn't affect him that much... he was knocking down everything he shot up from the field even though he sometimes seems partial to shooting under the goal. I do understand the fact that it is hard for some to make the sudden switch.
#85
I hear alot of people say that KCC didnt play there best game ever think Valley made of had something to do with that? Great win for KCC. Different game if Justice plays end of story.
#86
Justice didn't play..Stamper has an off night shooting....Everyone knows this....Now my take on the game..... In the games I've seen Valley play they create alot of their offense off of their defense and offensive rebounds..this didn't happen last night...yes it would have been different if Justice had played, just as it would been different if Stamper shoots the ball the way he normally does....People who really see the entire game saw Richard Caudill shut down Valley on the inside, saw great defense from KCC, saw the KCC bench give some great play,i.e. Bartrum hitting 2 3's after Valley made the 5-0 run too cut it to 1, Zach Davis (freshman) came in to handle the Valley press when Knott got rattled, saw Zach Mullins hit big shot in the 2nd quarter to help the Pats stay in the game, saw Jarrod Amburgey get the big rebounds, saw Tate Cox hit shot after shot with Valley defenders hanging on to him, saw Braxton Ratliff take the passes form Cox and Stamper to break the intense pressure from Valley.. Two great teams met last night with Knott getting this one, The only way they can meet again is on a Saturday night in late March 2009..Now wouldn't that be something!!!
#87
Guys it is all simple, and it is post after post saying that the outcome would have been different if Justice played. While I agree, the outcome isn't going to change. When your best player is out of course it puts you at a disadvantage, but when the player is one of the best Point Guards in the state and is being recruited by Arkansas and probably Florida after the summer he had playing against them..then guess what...IT IS GOING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE! I am sure most people from Knott have never seen him play and if so, that is something that alot of you should try and witness if you get an open night because Justice is a VERY SPECIAL PLAYER, like Cox. Would have loved to have seen Cox/Justice matchup myself. But anyhow, great win KCC, Justice get better, and the best of luck to both teams throughout!
#88
What does it take to get the Patriots some respect? 8-0 best start in school history, hear football players not ready for basketball, easy schedule to start season, running up scores, no bench (that's a good one) weak coaching staff ( another good one), no big people inside (just ask players who have run into Buttermilk's screen or go up for a rebound with him), tension between Tate and Stuart (best friends) It appears the naysayers are running out of reasons to say Knott is not a good ballclub! Go PATS!
#89
Everyone is bring up that other teams Knott has played have not been up to full strength because of football and injuries. Braxton R. played football (late start) and Richard Caudill (Buttermilk) was in a car accident and was out overt a month win basketball started.
#90
Oh I agree that Knott is a very good team! Would like to see this team with a player like Garrison Collins to give them somewhat of an inside factor when facing bigger teams throughout the state! A avery fun team to watch and am not taking nothing away from there win against Valley to say the least! Valley without Justice is still a top 5 team in the mountains IMO!
