In fact, maybe everyone else on the jbs squad did what they normally do.What in the heck are you talking about here in this post??? Who will get all district for JBS??? If there is anyone in Crusader country that actually cares who is named to this all district team they have got to be clueless. After all of the time, effort and money spent to get this team ready to make a run in the All A State and a return trip to Rupp and they go out like this and you want to talk about who will make the all tournament team!!!!!! Please, you along with everyone else around this program take a break from thinking and talking about INDIVIDUAL AWARDS, this is a TEAM SPORT!!!!! isnt it????
Outscoring Cox by one point may not get it...at least that's my thinking.

This JBS team has provided a lot of great basketball here in the mountains and represented the mountain area extremely well the last 3 years. I feel really bad for these kids to go out in the first round of the district like this. It just seems as though all of the negative publicity and negative talk regarding individulal goals and awards and all the talk about who is better (Clark Stepp or Tate Cox) has just taken a lot out of this team. I have seen them 5 or 6 times in the last couple years and they really never seemed to play as a TEAM and that is just VERY UNFORTUNATE. They ran the score up every chance they got, playing their best players until very late in the 4th quarter of 30 & 40 point plus wins, clearly allowing kids to pad their INDIVIDUAL STATS and just sent the wrong message with these actions IMO.
Having said all of that I dont want to forget to congratulate the LCC Cougars on truly a great win for their kids and their program in general. GREAT JOB Cougars!!!

You must have amnesia. ARC is not associated with JBS. And another thing, we are basicaly pointing out the thinking of JBS. When has it ever been a TEAM sport for these kids. Never. And thats not all of the players fault. The coaching staff should be put in detention after this year. It'll be interesting to note where Mr. C. Stepp ends up. ALC anyone??

The bad publicity hurt this team, C'mon that wasn't the problem, this team was never that good they played a few games over thier head and played a soft schedule the rest of the time. Everyone caught up eith thier game and starting playing JBS a little different. This class went out losing 5 of the last 8 and the last 5 regional games. I said all year they were a solid middle of the pack team in the 14th region. Coaching was thier biggest weakness. The Coaches never got much out of the talent on this team, just enough to help individual stats.

JBS is simply not the team they were earlier in the season. The reason ... i have no clue... but this WAS a regional team.. and still the best team in the region! Don't lie to yourselves.. you know it too
I think one reason teams like JBS & Elliott County jump out so strong in the early season is they do not have football. They do not have to wait on football players to get in basketball condition & get the rust off. Then the other teams that have f'ball players are catching up. As of right now EC is not playing as well as the 1st month of the season either so they better be ready.

Larry Legend Wrote:Wow... I got to attend this one and I will say that this is not the same JBS team that started the season.I am glad you got to see what they do to their players. They took the very heart right out of them. Trey Short had the first 4 points so they took him out. They don't intend for anyone to over shadow C & C. Collins was used to set picks. He would have already been looked at by scouts and has been, but they wouldn't let him do what he can do. They play a point guard at 3 guard position. Everything set for who would shoot and it turned around and bit them on the hind end .
First of all... a good shooter should keep shooting if he is off, eventually they will fall. But Clint kept shooting bad shots. Those will never fall consistently.
Clark is just flat out not as good as advertised. He isn't quick enough to go by good defenders and he struggles terrible from the three point line.
Garrison Collins could have dominated this game, but the Stepps wont utilize him like they should. It is like they don't want him to score...
Tate Cox is the best player in the region and probably touches the ball the least of all the starters.
I have heard all the stuff about the Stepps only caring about Clark and Clint's stats. But tonight I got to see it first hand.

Very good actually. Both teams came together to pray at midcourt after the game. Overall, pretty good sportsmanship in this game. I mean with a rivalry like that, in such a big game you know that there's going to be some hard fouls, players talking smack, etc.
02-28-2008, 12:35 PM
Letcher Central did two things to win this game, in my opinion.
1) They controlled the pace of the game. They didn't let JBS run up and down the floor as much as they wanted to, and the Crusaders were clearly struggling to get into an offensive rythm all night.
2) They stayed out of foul trouble. Although there were a lot of team fouls called on LCC, they managed to keep mostof their starters out of serious foul trouble.

I predicted in response to a Crusader faithful talking smack about playing in Rupp, that the only trip to Rupp for JBS this year would be as spectators. I stand by my prediction.
Where are you Nomercy, Bluegrass15
jbs played pitiful and got hosed. the refs were horrible, couldn't get a call. the lcc fans were rude. this must be the biggest win in the history of all letcher county schools. okay, seriously, just kiddin, lcc outplayed jbs tonight and was by far the better team. you could really tell from the tip, that lcc wanted it more. they played hard and as a team. jbs played absolutely no defense. this wasn't even a game, it was total domination by lcc. so here you go jabakka, i wanna give a big congrats to lcc on an impressive victory. i thought the game was a avery bad called game, but a very fair called game. other words, alot of bad calls for both teams. i hate to say, but jbs just played like they didn't care if they one or lost, anyways, better luck next year jbs. once again, congrats lcc on the one, fun team to watch, good luck in the championship game.

dude, man of my word................
i really didn't realize it until last night, jbs has absolutely no half court offense, if they don't score on the break, they don't score at all.

Har har har.... The team didn't do so well in this case, the individual did.
Lets see....
Win All A Region nope
Win All A State nope
Win 53rd District nope
Win 14th Region nope
Win 2 games at Rupp nope
Individual scoring champ check
Individual assist champ check
53rd District All Tourney team undecided
14th Region All Tourney team nope
I'd think that the crusaders are working hard to get the right one on the all district team. What else is there to work for?

I think this is such a shame. Granted, I am not a JBS fan, but I do hate to see a group of young men who had wonderful potential fall short in their attempt to display their expertise because they didn't have the leadership to take them there. I also know these young men, particularly the seniors on the team, are now hurting because they are beginning to realize they have competed in their last high school game and their season ended well below their expectations. Hopefully, this experience has taught them something positive that they can take with them well into their future...don't look out for number one so much as looking out for the team. A group pulling together can usually progress much farther than an individual pulling alone!
Good luck to the crusaders in their futures!
