I personally consider Elliott a mountain school and am proud of how well they have represented the mountains this year. I dont think people have heard the last of Elliott County this year..

All teams have an off night. Looks like Elliott County had theirs last night. They also may have underestimated Rose Hill. This loss might be good for Elliott County in the long run.

I agree with you that sometimes teams can use this as a wakeup call. JBS lost to Knott County in the district finals last year and went on to win the 14th region...

I gotta disagree with you again on this. Elliott County is NOT overated. They lost ONE game on a night that they shot 28% from the field.

Rose Hill if anything is underrated. The Royals started the season slow and they have played one of the tougher schedules in the state. They have the two best players in the 16th region and now their supporting players are starting to really pick it up. They are a very dangerous team for anybody.

I don't think a loss ever does any good but I don't believe this one hurts Elliott either. Rose Hill has good size and one of the best PGs in the state. IMO Elliott does not lose another game until the Sweet 16.

I would hate to be Morgan County who is Elliott's next oponent. The young Lions will not be in a good mood.

Congrats to Rose Hill on the win, tough loss for Elliott County.

I was really disappointed that Eilliot Co. lost, as I was looking forward to watching them in Richmond. Also, with Rose Hill probably going and University Heights going (most likely), the crowds will be down. Elliot Co. brings a bunch of folks. I guess I get tired of private schools with players from all over the place winning everything.

Rose Hill is not there yet. Bath County is pretty good and beat the Royals earlier in the year.

I'd be willing to bet that Mason County will present a little more of a challenge than the likes of the 16th Region.

I forgot they played Mason County later in the season. OK 1 game. But it wouldn't suprise me if Elliott gave them more than they wanted or even won.

Now I don't expect them to win that game but it wouldn't suprise me as much as Rose Hill upsetting them last night.

Miller is a huge matchup problem for them. Kind of obvious huh?

After watching this exciting high school basketball game the other night at BCHS, i would have to say that Rose Hill's ability to limit second chance points by Elliott, through good rebounding my euton and jackson, coupled with a low percentage shooting night from Elliott's starters, led the Royals to eventual victory. Rose Hill played an excellent defense game, something that elliott had yet to see in the 16th region. The loss will give Elliott a sense of where they stand at, and give them motivation to get better. The win will give Rose Hill confidence against Bath County in the final, a team that beat them by 18 at Rose Hill already this year. I'm excited for the game friday, should be a good matchup.

I would agree with you about the private school issue and I really like Elliot County's team, but it is kind of hard to feel sorry for a team that has chosen all year to run scores up on their competition the way they have. I know the coaches are the ones that choose to do this and that is very unfortunate. As far as their chances of making it to rupp arena in march, I think they are very good, this disappointment will be a big motivating factor for them come district and regional tournament time. I hope they make it back to rupp, but it would be nice if their coaching staff would show a little more class in some of their wins.
