The best hit you have EVER seen
#31
Pikeville V.S Hazard

Playoff Game 2

About 1:30 left in the 4th.

Pikeville up by 2

Hazards ball and they move up the field fast by passing it to Sophomore #5 Micheal Campbell for about 3 or 4 receptions

Suddenly Campbell jumps up for the ball and CB #24 Sophomore Daniel Harmon came from behind him running hard and took his legs out.

Causing him to do a complete back flip and land on his back

Looked like an Injury but he got back up to catch another pass so Hazard could set up for the Game Winning field goal.

Hazards student section kept swarming and moving in to our section and they stormed the field.....Devistating Moment...... Sad

i think 05 Pikeville's Will Lockhart absoulety drilled a RB from jenkins while he was running with his head turned to catch a pass. His helmet flew off to the back of the end-zone and he had to be carried off on a strecher.

That sounds like a cheap shot and pass interference.

No it was after he touched the ball and was hit as he was turning around...

Yeah, the Prater hit was tough to watch

I remember this hit, Wills hit the running back for Estill #5 on the sidelines I think in the second or third quarter, it was a clean, but powerful hit.

Who was the boy that Jordan Price hit against Hazard in the playoffs? I dont think he went back in the game after getting helped off the field.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

Curtis Childers from Belfry back in 2001 or so, nailed a kid from Breathitt .. paralysed the kid..

You should have seen it from the side view. Ouch.

Really though I'm glad you were all right. It didn't look to good for a while.

I played in that game and remember it vividly. It was the hardest hit I've seen in my life and the rb by the way was Johnathan Taylor.
#45
Yes it was in which, Taylor from Jenkins got right back up and played the rest of the game! I WOULD have to agree with that hit def. being a top 3 of all time in any level of football that I have seen in person and watched on t.v.!

see, this is what makes me angry. no one needed to warn me of anything. he had a good hit, and that was that. i'd go heads up with him anyday, and i can guarantee you 9 times out of 10, i'd put him on his back. it was just a good, really lucky hit that only happened because of a missed block. it was nothing out of the ordinary.

I'll take that bet. I have not seen anyone go head to head with Wills and put him on his back 9 out of ten times. Wink

I will agree that it was nothing out of the ordinary for Josh. He has put hit after hit on many more RB's than you and will continue to do so at the next level.

How would a missed block contribute to that tackle. Wills played LB and was probably playing a good 5-10 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Who's job was it to block him? It is my understanding that you had cut up the home sideline and Wills came from approximately the "R" and made the tackle. Good open field tackle but maybe Fball or Devilologist can chime in because I went to the bathroom and came out to see someone toes up on the field.

yea, 'cause you know THEY won't have a biased opinion. and it WAS a missed block. since when is a player not blocked because he was playing LB? i've blocked many a linebacker in my career. my guard whiffed him completely. and i've put BETTER players on their backs 9 out of 10 times, so i highly firmly believe i could do so to him. and just out of curiosity, have you ever put on the pads?Wink

Me putting on the pads has absolutely nothing to do with Josh's playing ability. You have your opinion and I have mine. Neither will be proven or disproven unless you go on to play college ball and face the Georgetown Tigers.

And before you take this out of context. I have never said that you were not a good player. I saw you once and it was only a partial game. But I have seen Wills play for many years now and have seen much better and much worse RB's try to run through him and it just simply did not happen. It may be a bit of a biased opinion but I am sure there are several that will agree with it.

so you haven't ever put the pads on. hah. i don't even know why i'm arguing with you then.

Like I said earlier me putting on pads has absolutely nothing to do with that. You are arguing because your fragile ego got bruised and you have to talk big to prove yourself. The only way that you will prove it to me is to go play college ball and go head to head with him. Until then you can continue to think what you will about the situation.

thatRBfromCALI Wrote:so you haven't ever put the pads on. hah. i don't even know why i'm arguing with you then.

Well I have put on pads and I have a few observations and a couple of questions.

My observations:
The opportunity to go head to head with Wills only happened once and what was the result of that meeting?

As for the guard wiffing the block. If your guard did his job every time there would be no opportunity to go head to head with Wills.

Obviously your field of vision was not very good or you could have seen Wills coming at you.

You say that you would out him on his back 9 out of ten times. Looks like he must have heard about that, got scared and decided to take care of his one first.Rolleyes

My questions are:

How many yards and TD's did you have in that game?

How many yards total did you have for the season?

Where are you playing your college ball?

you're correct about my lineman. and it was a good hit, i'm not saying that it wasn't. i just take offense when someone tries to put me down like the guy who said "somebody should've warned you..." it's my competetive spirit. as for my field vision, it wasn't really a factor 'cause he didn't come at me from an angle, he came at me parallel, so i couldn't really see anything but a flash of red out of the corner of my eye as i tried to cut back inside. i had NO touchdowns that game because of a concussion from the hit. so, obviously, it was a good hit. but it was also a lucky hit. i only played five games 'cause i transferred from california, and i rushed for 638 yards and 8 touchdowns. and i got offers from cumberlands, union and some school in tennessee but turned them down; i'm going to eastern, then uk and i'm majoring in kinesiology, and i MIGHT walk-on at eastern. and for the record, i asked midee if he'd put the pads on out of sheer curiosity. i meant nothing by it, really. i wasn't even that heated when i was posting to him. also, did you play any college ball? also just asking out of sheer curiosity.

DEVILOLOGIST Wrote:I have game film of my son playing and I tell you it is one of the MEANEST hits I have ever seen. KNocked the kid 5 yards and I am trying to get it to save on my PC. Midee1 or FBALL can come watch the hit to verify it. I tell you it was absolutely nasty.Yea he may have been 9 at the time but I have seen alot of football and this one is nasty.
Also Tommy Brown as defensive back hitting the kid from West Carter 2 years ago at Russell when the kid went out for a pass and missed the ball. That one ranks up there too.

ahh yes i remember that one happend on like the 30 i was on the sidelines i think that kid pooped on him self to hahaha you should have seen him when we were shaking hands lol

Sometime in the early nineties in a game between Paintsville and Pikeville, Lance Rose hit a kid from Paintsville on a kickoff that split his helmet and knocked the kid from Paintsville out. Lance could not go back in the game because he had a goose egg on his forehead and could not put a helmet on.

For the record I have put on the pads and much like yourself I turned down a chance to play at some smaller schools to go to UK. I did not play in college even though I had the opportunity. Something I regret all the time by the way.

Now to get to the point. I saw you in warm ups. I saw you in game action. And I saw the hit. Don't take this wrong but Wills would drop you time after time. You have good speed and agility but Wills is a different kind of animal on the field.

As for the hit itself. He did come from the inside and absolutely drilled you as you tried to cut back at the sideline. He had about a 15 yard run and laid you out. Thats not a knock. That hit would have done the same to me and most others as well. As for it being lucky. There was nothing lucky about it. Its called pursuit and that is what good LBs do.

The hitstick comment was just humor my man. You really need to lighten up just a little bit.
