Pike County Bowl 2007

Maybe we should bring in De La Salle High School to play East Ridge so we can show the world how terrible we are at football in eastern KY (outside of a handful of teams). This whole statement is a joke. Don't bring a team that would beat you by 40+ points (Belfry and Pikeville) into a stupid conversation like this. It is staements like this that make people not want ER, SV, Phelps, and PC to play in the fake PCB, a.k.a. the Toilet Bowl. The PCB used to be one of the classiest bowls around until they decided that other teams feelings were getting hurt by not being able to play in it, and they sympathetically let them play each other. Maybe if these teams would actually win a couple of games then there might be some people outside of their own communities that would actually want to see them play.

AMEN!! I dont know how many times Ive heard people say when the first Game was over that now that the pre game "entertainment" was over it was time to play some football. Those people werent wearing Pikeville or Belfry shirts either.

That's a pretty insulting thing to say about the teams from four of our local high schools. Each of those teams has players that are doing their best every week, and they deserve better than comments like that.

Listen, I'm not even from Pike County and I know that there is only two football teams in Pike Co. That is Belfry and Pikeville. Everyone else are bottom feeders in football. I don't care about other sports either. So I don't want to hear it on a football thread.

Now that the districts are a little difference, it may not be so bad, but with ER, PCC, and SV all in the same district and at least 2 of these teams always going head to head, someone always opened up 0-1 in district play. Not fair to the county, not fair to the teams who would benefit from having another game or two under their belt.

Shelby Valley isnt in ER's and PCC's district anymore.

But back to the topic at hand, I still think it would be more fair to let each tem choose an opponent. Phelps could get someone in single A to play then.

I think they should play other schools that challenge them better. They should play harder 3a 4a and 6a schools to make them better but they are going to get wooped just sbout all games but aonce they start getting better it will be a lot interesting to watch them.

I don't think it would make any of those teams better to go out get whipped by a vastly superior opponent. The psychological damage would likely outweigh the benefits of learning from the better competition. However, I do think it would be okay to schedule an opponent for each team who is a notch better and would be the definite favorite, but would not be impossible to beat.

Until the other schools get their recruiting up to par with Pikeville and Belfry, they are always going to struggle in football.

Recruiting? I don't believe either team recruits. Kids are just smart and want to better themselves in life. Pikeville and Belfry offer things on not only an athletic standpoint but on an academic standpoint as well. I wish all these other schools would get over themselves. I believe that spreading lies and rumors without factual information is forbidden on this site. So I would advise you to stop spreading such derailed and off colored commentary.

I agree the Pikeville is above the rest of the county in academics but I don't think Belfry is at all. Academically, Belfry doesn't have anything more than any of the other county schools.

I think it has more to do with other teams getting serious about their program! Pikeville and Belfry put a lot in to their programs and get a lot back. I don't think we can say that about the others involved. I get sick of this recruit crap! I guess we go after them early. We got the Howard boys in grade school! LOL

Oh, and don't forget that Pikeville must have recruited PH jr. away from Belfry then Belfry recruited him back from Pikeville. Come on guys get over the recruit garbage. It doesn't happen.
