bigE Wrote:does kamron smith have a shot at playing next year

Maybe. There are a few from last years freshman that could push for some playing time as sophmores.
#62
what other freshman do you think have a shot besides him. im not too familiar with their freshman is why im asking.

Will Rice RB/LB, Travis Jones RB/DB and Navarone Alleshouse E/DB have a shot at some playing time from what I saw last season.

Navorone Alleshouse will have a good chance if he starts to work out
travis jones is good
and will rice i say has the best chance he works like a dog and is gettin to be good

As a Belfry fan I am not so much concerned with their o-line as I am with what they will be returning from a VERY good defense last season.

Who do the Devils have back on defense? It sure will be a welcome relief for Willis to be gone, I can tell you that.

Wills will be impossible to replace.

Starters that return on defense are Jones DE, Harvey DT and Cornwell NG. But the entire secondary will be new. David Baily started a few games at CB. He did have the late interception in the Semi final game. Cornwell was the starter at the beging of the year but was injured during the Ashland game. There were alot of kids that got valuable minutes last year though. It should be interesting to see who steps up.

There will also be another soccer player coming out for the team this year. He has a good work ethic, and if he is anything close to being as good as his brother was he will be a good challenge for Jason Dolly at the kicking position.

next year russell will go however far jones can take them (and u cant go far on one persons back) unless alot of people step up. seth harvey is gonna have to come out of his shell and play good fo 4 quarters instead of waiting until he gets pissed off to play good. but trust me when hes pissed he can cause damage.toby hicks is gonna have to step up and prove to everybody that he can really play coz after this year im not sure how much the coaches trust him. whoever takes over for wills at line backer is gonna have some big shoes to fill... maybe the switch of jones from end to backer sounds good? i dont know but jones is by far the most hard nosed player out there and it would make sense to play him at backer. i also think its very important that aj cordle learns not to be so timid. tommy and jones both would flat out run over ya on that bootleg and throw blocks, aj doesnt have the mean streak that either of them have. he needs to toughen up. adam foster is gonna have to calm down and play smart football. sometimes this year foster would run around tryin to hit so many people that he hit no one.i think itll be a very good battle for the second running back (if they decide to put jones at half back) between dave bailey and drew abrams and whoever doesnt win it needs to keep a positive attitude and contribute as much as they can. heres what i;m thinkin its gonna look like in 07:

QB. AJ Cordle DE. Greg Bender
HB. Tyler Jones DE. Adam Foster
HB. Dave Bailey DT. Seth Harvey
FB. JOsh Hopper DT. Mikey Dillon
SE. Justin Mitchell NG. John Cornwell
TE. greg Bender LB. Tyler Jones
T. Toby Hicks LB. Josh Hopper
T. Seth Harvey (if he can get in shape and play both ways) SS. Drew Abrams
G. Adam Foster FS. Justin Mitchell
G. John Cornwell CB. Dave Bailey
C. Brandon Castle CB. AJ Cordle

freshman wise, will rice and kamron smith will have the most playing time. both are extremely strong and have heart but neither is tall by any standards. rice has the ability to shed blockers and get to the ball carrier and is also very fast. kamron is also extremely fast for his size and is almost the opposite of rice on the defensive side of the ball, he will power right through someone to get to the ball and had the strength and power to do so but it might not work on a higher level as varsity. alleshouse is very very good in every aspect at TE from blocking to catching, but doesnt have the fire in him to out and hit someone. travis jones got burnt so many times in freshman football this year (especially against mason co.) and doesnt usually even give the effort to get in a stance, also, he thinks he is bigger than he really is which hurts him in the tackling department and he is also very small for a db. on the offensive side of the ball he doesnt give much effort either, if the ball isnt going to him, he usually doesnt even block for the runner, he just stands there. dehoff, in my opinion, would be better at moving down to tackle to take andy lyons place who despite his size, is one of the weakest people ive ever seen and theres not much skill there either. drake is an excellent blocker but has horrible hands and if the ball is thrown to him, makes no effort to go and get it like alleshouse and rogers will. also he doesnt have that fire to go hit someone. whittaker isnt even going to play football next year because of back problems (he has 17% curvature in his spine), but he isnt very football smart. Fullen is one of the fastest if not the fastest in the freshman class but isnt playing next year either because he wants to play more basketball. rogers is their main receiver even though hicks only threw to him a couple of times in the season. he will go up and get the ball and has the height to do so. but he is skinny and doesnt block very well. he is the best db in the freshman class but there is only two that actually played that are returning, him and jones. he has some speed. and from what ive heard has pretty good strength for his weight. spencer hutchinson has good skill but is too big of a goof off to do anything and coaches dont like his attitude towards things

dude this is about varsity ball. save that post for next year or the year after becaue none of them will start. 1 or 2 of them might play a little bit when it matters.

i heard Dan Meko's lil brother Anthoney Meko will be comeing out to play football this year for the red devils. He said that Dan will helping him out all summer. ive seen him kick a straight 45 yard feild goal. Hes pretty good
#82
If he is anything like his brother the MEKO SUAVE type , he will be doing well, I would like to see Jason Dolly get his time this year as he has a leg and will be an asset to the team. He could have kicked alot last year but he was only a sophomore with a senior kicker ahead of him. Dolly will be the starter unless the MEKO SUAVE 2 can boom like his brother. I think Dan had 70% of his kickoffs in the endzone. Hard to beat that.

Breaking news!

"Spring Wing Fling"

Russell has now incorporated the Shotgun formation into their offensive playbook and are planning on using it in 2007.

We saw this at some point last year and it worked well,,, I would love to see it but it is hard to go against the wing.....
