Yes Paintsville did win, but not by what everyone else expceted them to, these team's exchanged the lead back and forth all night. Paintsville managed to pull away at the end and keep it though, as someone predicted in the Pikeville Vs. Paintsville prediction thread.
I have a feeling these two team's may see each other at the Expo. come play-off time

Congrats to the Tigers and a good game by the Panthers!

Paintsville didn't play their best and Pikeville gave them a good game. And everyone quit blaming the refs for crying out loud. I guess the Paintsville influence and home cooking even follows them into Pikeville's own gym?? Refs make bad calls and they miss calls, they are only human. But I doubt very seriously that any mistakes they made tonight would have any effect on the outcome of the game. Every losing team's fans blame the refs and at least most of the time that would not have changed the outcome.

As for the Tiger fans and their opponents, everyone should keep their expectations realistic. Paintsville may be the region favorites and with their talent, they should be. But that doesn't make them unbeatable on a given night. If Paintsville has an off night and another team is hot, then Paintsville can be beat. That is what makes this game so great and gives March Madness its magic. I would predict that Paintsville will win against any 15th Region team, but I know that somewhere along the season they will most likely lose to someone in the 15th. But no team is likely to come into Pikeville and blow out the Panthers by 50 points. Get real!

This is true, but I honestly feel that the ref's made more than their share of bad call's... I've said it two or three time's before, they're call's more than likely wouldn't have gaven Pikeville the W, but there's a chance it could have, or at least made it closer

Refs were not great but not that bad either! They were a non factor in the final score!! The small Pikeville drought in the 3rd quarter was the difference. Paintsville is just a little better right now, and that's just a fact!! Man there were some good players in this game. Slone is Slone, but he has some very good players to go with him. Vanhoose is a stud too! Pikeville's got some talent that has come out of nowhere!! Clevenger was just about as good as Slone tonight. This game was a war!! FUN TO WATCH!!

Pikeville did slow down a bit in the 3rd and it went into the 4th with them....
Jacob Sword hit 3-4 three pointer's tonight, he and Clevinger had a great game tonight! As well did Slone and Vanhoose

Typical Harmon, nothing great but just really solid play on both ends!

I think near the end of the season, Harmon will be playing at a higher level than what he is now and will be a major factor in the Panther's game

What about Pikeville Free-Throw shooting...I don't have the exact numbers but i know it wasnt good...

You were in the front row huh. So which of the JC players are you, hmmm, gonna have to think about it for a minute.

????? Paintsville had more fouls called on them in both halves, so how can you say that.

there were a bunch of no calls on both ends

Yea the Panther's free-throw shooting was a bit off tonight, these are give-me points, can't miss those

Good game to watch, very sloppy on both ends at times. Pikeville nailed the 3-ball in the first half which kept them in the game for the most part I thought. Their big man needs to change his shoes because sometimes it looks like he had two left feet.....lol. He was a force down low for the most part on the boards and getting easy put backs, but got away with a few elbows...that's just part of the game though. Honaker had trouble with fouls as stated earlier, very athletic kid. I thought Paintsville didn't live up to the hype, they shot poorly from the field...but they do have a lot of potential. If they play a great and complete game I think they could very well walk away 15th Region champs in March.

I predicted Paintsville by 15+ IF they had a good shooting game, and they were far from having a good shooting game. They missed alot of wide open 3's that they usually hit. I was very impressed with the Clevenger boy, I knew he was a good ball player but he has stepped it up a couple notches from last year when I seen him play. The big guy was terrible IDC if he did have 14 points and 14 boards. As for the refs, get real, the big guy got away with elbows and pushing off ALL night long. I understand he is just a sophomore, he will get better Bart Williams will make sure of that, but right now he is soft. Wait til Pikeville plays someone like Magoffin County who has a VERY physical post player, Devin Rice will beat that kid to death. Pikeville is a scrappy bunch, they will give fits to anyone they play. Congrats Tigers, better get ready for Friday, Magoffin isn't gonna be a cake walk, they are tough and athletic.

Good game by Pikeville. Adams has came a long way since summer. I think he needs to be more agessive on the boards even though he had 14 tonight and he needs to be in better shape. Clevinger, Sword and Harmon all had solid games. Bart has done a great job with this team and I believe they will be very dangerous come tournament time.

Actually Vanhoose should have fouled out in the first quarter he pushed and elbowed Adams all night. Sometimes when you are tripled teamed it makes you seem soft. Overall Adams had a nice game but he does need improvement, but I am sure May will see that happens.

VanHoos did push him all night in retaliation. He needs a Micheal Copely weight program is what he needs.

He does need to be stronger and in better shape, but he has came a long way since I saw him this summer.

He also seem a lil clumsy to me, like IRISH said, it looked like he had 2 left feet.

My one question is, if Deven is so weak under the goal, why did Vanhoose and the others have to take both hands and push him in the back to move him out? Does that mean that they are even weaker?
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

I didn't see two hand pushes, but I saw some forearms in his back. I would've done that too or already got tossed if I were one of those kids...I know if I got hit a few times it would've been lights out....lol. He is a decent player, I will say that...wasn't very strong though underneath. If he was he'd had position all night and came down with more rebounds....but give him a few years and he'll be alright.

No, it just means Adams was born bigger and heavier and takes more to get him out of the way. Big difference in strength and size. Devan didn't work to get that big he was born that way. People work for strength.

I got a great video of the two handed pushes in the back. Paintsville fans was sitting on the wrong side to see it maybe....

Alfus, what do you think Paintsvilles players weigh? My guess would be in the 190 to 200 lb range, can anyone from Paintsville verify their weight?

Also, why is it that when a team that was supposed to get blown out of the gym loses by 7 points, that one player gets talked about like this? Remember at his age, he would be a freshman at almost any other school. Would he be getting talked about like this if he was a hold back and was a freshman?

I am not talking about him in a negative way. If he is stronger then he doesn't get pushed out of the lane and he will hold on to the ball better. You are right I believe if he would have been held back it would have been a great advantage to him, he will progress and will be fine by the end of the year.
