Who do you think your team will play in the first round of the playoffs?

naa man, they re-did the playoff system this year, all games will be played within district

Pikeville will play Jenkins and Hazard will play Paintsville

they need to rethink that deal..
because SV will have to return againt for Belfry for 2nd week..
That not good for anybody......
lol thats like giving SV two tries to beat Belfry in the playoffs
Not to mention it might demoralize SV if they get killed two games..
i don't think thats fair

Rd. 1 vs. Shelby Valley
Rd. 2 vs. Sheldon Clark (District Championship)
Rd. 3 vs. Middlesboro (Regional Championship)
Rd. 4 vs. Russell/Mercer (State Semi)

Mercer is in region 3 but with the new playoff format Russell will most likely face Corbin in the Regional. Mercer would not face Russell or Belfry until the state finals.

Pikeville still gets the 1 seed I believe. Because of non district wins. I don'y think Paintsville will beat them though.

Maybe I can help elaborate.

In the future, instead of having defined regions (same district vs same district EVERY season) they will do a random draw to see which districts matchup (similar to the Sweet 16 for basketball).

This season, to test that new possible plan, and see the results, they only did the random draw with districts 3, 4, 5, and 6 in all classes. 1A and 3A were unaffected by this decision because district 3 drew district 4 and district 5 drew district 6 (which is what we are all accustomed to). However, 2A was changed, district 3 (Lou. Western) drew district 5 (Mercer County), while district 4 (Corbin) drew district 6 (Russell). 4A was also changed because district 3 drew district 6 and district 4 drew district 5.

I know that's confusing, but hopefully it helped some. Also here are the links for each classes playoff bracket this season, maybe it will help as well.

Class A
Class AA
Class AAA
Class AAAA

Looks like jenkins will be playin pikeville in the first round. Its a big match up because what happen in the regular season!

hm not to take a stab at jenkins or anything, but i think pikeville was jus a tid bit upset after that game and will be head hunting that night looking to put up 40-50 points in the first round, well every round that they can that is. i expect them to be alot different from that night, but ya never know. jenkins sounds like they're awful hungry for a playoff win!

It's pretty easy to determine you your team will play in the playoffs since the 1st two rounds come from your own district. Just seed the district #1 vs #4 and #2 vs #3. The winner of the 2nd round is the district champion.

I just looked.. its not likely that anyone from disrtrict 4 should be able to touch Russell.... so if Belfry makes it to the state semi's.. they most likely will play Russell.. unless a major upset happens

Where will Rd 2 be held if Belfry gets the number 1 seed. Which i think is pretty much a lock now.

hmm i remember reading at the beginning of last year from belfry fans that last years team was a sort of rebuilding year, and this years team was another state team...not saying it isnt or anything, whats every1 else think about it now that western and mercer has emerged as two pretty good teams picked to win it?
