You do know that Valley beat Paintsville this summer by 16 points. Why not have more players on than them?

You do know that Valley beat Paintsville this summer by 16 points. Why not have more players on than them? Shelby Valley was the regional runner up last year. Paintsville wasnt. That should mean that Valley has better players.

No. Valleybeat Paintsville. East Kentucky Lightning didnt play because all of there players wasnt able to be their then. The Lightning team played the day after Valley beat Paintsville.

Belfry beat the Lightning team because that was there second game in a row. I dont think Belfry can beat Valley in basketball. They might in football but Valley is a basketball school.

I am not bashing or hateing on anyone when I say this. I dont think anyone should be listed on a top 10 for the region if they have never played a second of high school ball. Call me old fashoned, but I think a top 10 mention should be earned because of what you do on the court instead of what you say you can do or others say you can do. Actions speak louder than words.

SV will have a good team this year, with the freshman they have coming in. Too bad they couldn't have held EKL together. They will have a good team anyway

1)JD Vanhoose-Paintsville - Good Ball hanler and Shooter, IMO is the best player on Paintsville Roster !
2)Landon Slone-Paintsville - Good player but still needs to improve on his passing !
3)Devin Rice-Magoffin Co - Is a quite player but is very agressive ! Rebounding and Scoring machine !
4)Jamie McCarty Johnson Central - Needs to quit shooting so many three's ! I watched him twice last season and he shot about 20 three's in both games combined !
5)Shane Grimm- Paintsville - Nice player! Plays agressive and shoots very well !
6)Tim Honaker- Pikeville - Can play any postion on the court and plays agressive !
7)Jayrd Crum- Johnson Central - Never seen him play but I've heard his name alot !
8)Josh Martin- Allen Central - Is the best all round player on AC's roster and can score good also !

Slone hasn't showed me anything other than attitude and jealousy. He gets way to much credit then he deserves. he has the talent to be the best in the region by far but he is far from being the best. i'd leave j.d at #1.
10-24-2006, 01:18 AM
Slone is a good player, but he is not the player Shelby Valley made him out to be when he was a freshman.
10-24-2006, 10:58 AM
I think Valley should have more players listed. They have E. Justice, the best point guard. Logan Bryant the second best point guard. Ashley who will be a dominate force down low this year. Taylor Newsome who can play with anyone in the 15th. And they have all played together for years now and know each others moves real good.

Let them prove their ability at the high school level before you go putting them on a top 10 list. I agree that Elisha is a teriffic point guard, but I would rank him ahead of Jaryd Crum just yet. As for Logan, he isn't even a point guard. He is a pretty good 2 guard, but not at the top of the region... And as for Ashley and Taylor, they haven't even played any varsity minutes yet.... If you continue to constantly talk about how great SV is, all you are going to do is make everybody else hate them... Let them prove it on the court...

I've seen Landon score 40+ points twice in his 7th & 8th grade season's @ MCA. And IMO Paintsville just has too much talent for one team, if Landon would've went to Allen Central or Prestonsburg or any other school in the 15th he would be the top player on everyones list and maybe one of the top 10 best in the state by now. But thats just my opinion.

Tops in the region.... maybe. Top 10 best in the state is a huge stretch IMO. Landon just doesn't have the athletic ability to be considered at that level. It was talked about a couple of years ago about him being a division 1 talent. Most people thought he would be, but that it would depend on his physical development.... As far as I can tell there has been very little physical development since then. He has a couple of years to go, but most 17 year olds are nearly done growing, and Landon isn't physically capable right now of competing at the D1 level... Unless he makes a dramatic improvement, Slone will have a hard enough time playing at Pikeville College's level...

Justin Credible Wrote:First off yeah JC VS. Tigers will be a good game but I think you might be overlooking pburg a little to much. Compare player to player in their lineups, the guards on each team even out but pburgs bigmen will swallow Johnson Centrals'.I know their bigman is about 6'1 , 6'2 at the biggest, Prestonsburg's bigman is 6'7 and their PF is 6'4 and is solid as a rock. Im not saying Pburg is gonna throw down on Johnson Central but im letting you know that it will be a good game.
That's all I've heard is how great these "Big Men" from Pburg are all of a sudden. If they are so good then why were sitting on the bench all year last season? Size means nothing against a run and gun team, JC or Paintsville may just beat everyone up the floor without setting up an offense while those "Big Men" are still on the other side of the half court line.
