If Russell has a fall break during an open week, I'd love to see them travel out of state and play a good team, like JC did back in 2002 when they went to Florida. It would not only put them up for a great game, but it would also reward the kids for all their hard work they put in during the offseason.

I had suggested to Sam Sparks that we could do what Ironton did with the Canadian school and have them come down to play. SHOOOOT we would even let them stay over night here and I am sure that the we could help them out.........
I would rather play TRINITY OR ST.X........ BUT of course I am not playing, we need to play someone very good and with alot of power......... OH Yea i forgot I KNOW WHO IT IS !!!!!!! POSSIBLY who it is that is..... Not set in stone yet..........

I would too, but I don't think that will happen unless Ironton comes knocking on our door. The reason I say that is because we were the last one to call ('92 or '93), and they left us with the feeling of "your not worthy". We also contacted them recently (the last 2 yrs), not to schedule a game but for something that is common courteousy in high school football. Once again "not interested" and this was something that required no effort or expense on their part.

Ooops, I was wrong. We did ask Ironton which was a good move. We thought the change in regime might give us a chance. This should answer everyones question of why we don't you play Ironton? They won't play us!!!!!

Yes ironton was called and so was alot of teams in a 200 mile radius, and yes no one would or they could not play us..... So Devil68 did the AD tell you the other team and if so you have to be quiet about it.

Fleming asked to be moved to the Estill,Powell new district,,, they are almost guranteed to be district winner every year..... Iguess if you cant be the top dog, jump the fence and get in somebody elses back yard...Nay i think they moved because of the travel time and local teams...... BUT dont quote me on that.. !!!

Breathitt is in Fleming's new district, so they are not guaranteed anything. I think they were moved to help balance out the districts. Flemings new district will have Cawood (possibly only one year due to consolidation), Powell, Estill, and Breathitt. If Fleming did not move in, that would make a 3 team district after this year. Since Fleming already played Breathitt, Powell, and Estill I heard they were invited to move.

However, the fact that Fleming has only beaten Russell twice in school history (and that was in the same year) probably did have a little to do with it! Mason County coming back into the district will make it more interesting, but I don't think they have a very good track record against Russell either.

Spoke with the AD last night...Slummin' at a soccer game ...Nothing is official yet but either of the 2 teams he mentioned would be huge games and provide STIFF tests for the Devils...The thing is, both could fall through and we'd still be looking...Let me say this about the teams on the hook...Everybody says Russell should get Ironton back on the schedule...Either of the 2 teams mentioned are Ironton-like or better programs!!!! :yikes:
