Really looking forward to watching some of the freshmen getting quality PT this season.
That group is gonna be fun and exciting to watch in the upcoming years.

That group of freshman are a special bunch. Size, speed, strength, depth, they have about all you could ask for. Very dangerous bunch moving forward. And someone mentioned there being some competition for Reynolds at QB…don’t count on it.

If Parsons is interested in playing quarterback you have to give him a shot. He has been a starting quarterback at Betsy Layne 3 years. Very hard to turn him down for a chance a being a 4 year starter there. But who knows….
idk if hes better than reynolds but carter parsons is a dog gone ball player!!!!!! put him somewhere and he will make plays for you!!!!!!!!

You are off base but you just don't know how good Reynolds is.

If he plays I would think he would be on the field both ways most of the time, just not at QB...JMO, we will find out soon

J.J. Reynolds (@jjreynoldsQB) / X
Reynolds is a better athelete than the previous two Pikeville QBs. He isn’t going to shock you with his size or arm strength, but he has incredible feet, decision making, and vision when he is running in traffic. Looking at Pikevilles offense last year, they would have been better off with him at QB and ran more option style offense. And while the kid from BL is a solid QB…let’s not forget there is a major difference in the two programs and the two teams and their strength of schedule.
Parsons is a proven playmaker and a great backup option for Pikeville.
Parsons is a great athlete and would be on the field but not at QB. He would be a really good backup but I don’t think he is as good at QB as Reynolds. He would likely see time at receiver and at safety but last I heard, he may not be playing.

Pikeville was said to have had around 34-35 kids out first practice. Their FB page has some pictures up and that number looks correct. Adding more than 10 at this point would be odd for what is considered mandatory practices even counting some kids out of town or late adds. Typically most of the kids who are going to play are there day 1. That’s also a fact. Not sure how that’s being negative. Just is what it is. Have not heard any transfer rumors but that is definitely possible. Just don’t see them having 50+ kids rostered.

I think this Pikeville version has to play different because their best players are their skill guys. Should be explosive and very fun to watch but they will be not be deep. I would hold any judgment on them early and see how they’re playing in October and November because if they stay healthy, I think they’ll improve as the year goes on, especially any young guys who get in the field. If they have near the injuries as last year, they would really struggle.

Have to agree Pikeville will struggle early and if you go back and look you can see that over the years that is true to form with most teams except some but if they can stay healthy which last year is the first year I seen it as bad as it was I think they will be ok but according to consensus on this form that can’t improve enough to be in the top 5 and it may play out that way but just like last year I will wait and watch the games and make my prediction not ready to crown anyone yet but Raceland in preseason is definitely #1 until we see what everyone does

Pikevilles brutal schedule will help them as long as they stay healthy. I am not on this “Pikeville is going to be down” train. They won’t be what they had been, but “down” is not what I would call them.
Pikeville doesn't have to be what they had been, whatever that means, to win Class A. 3 of their last 4 championships were won in 43, 32 and 21 point blowouts. They did lose a lot, but half the team was injured last year. People act like they didn't beat Raceland at Raceland last year with Anthony hurt and getting all of THREE carries. Now he is gone and people are acting like there is no one left in the town of Pikeville who is capable of running the football lol. Will I be shocked if Pikeville doesn't win Class A this year? Of course not. But I won't be shocked if they do win it either. They have as good a shot as anyone if they work hard and avoid the injury bug.

Mikey Hager will be a complete beast after missing most of last year. Ran under 4.5 40 at a couple camps and can run over people.

Thats a great read from KPG. Mikey Hagar was really impressive last season and great things were expected from him until he went down with a season ending injury against LCA. He certainly will be a force on both sides of the ball this season, no doubt. This young man will be fun to watch as he does his part in putting the Panthers in the W column.
What time is the 7v7 tonight?

What teams are in attendance?

Pikeville, Prestonsburg, Perry Central I believe
Nice. Glad to see teams out getting after it. It will be August before we know it!
Hager went down against GRC I think but your point is valid. He had a few TDs tonight before they started running doubles at him. Opened it up for some other guys. Skill guys looked good for Pikeville. Few drops but it was wet from the earlier downpour and humid so could have played a role. Few of those from all 3 teams. Reynolds was good also. Thought Johnson looked good for Blackcats. They ran good stuff. They appear a little undersized but ran decent routes and catch it well. Perry showed some flashes but I didn’t see any vertical threat from them. They have a kid who is maybe a TE and had good size and was their best target tonight. QB settled in and was solid. I don’t know what their line looks like but if they aren’t good up front, it could be tough for them this year. That’s my quick takes. Good evening of work for those teams.

I thought all 3 teams got in some good work.

Johnson for Pburg and Reynolds from Pikeville both looked really good tonight. Those two are going to be tough to defend when they can take off scrambling and in a play action offense.

Kain Patton had a great night for Prestonsburg. Kid is a STUD.

Best of luck to Pikeville & Perry Central this season....Pulling for both programs!

Looks like I missed that one (GRC). Thanks for the correction. Good to know all three teams did well this evening.
Pikeville going to EKU Saturday?
This schedule would be a challenge for just about any team in the state!! Boyle County & the top 3-4 6A teams could probably come through unscathed. There may be a couple other team in the state that could handle it but not many at all!! Most of you guys made logical reasons as to why you're worried about the health of the team after game 6. It's more than fair to wonder if the potential benefits of such a physical schedule are worth the potential damage that can very easily come with playing such a high level of competition the first 6 weeks of the season!! I know I might sound like a smart mouth or a jerk with what I'm about to say. So please know that is not my intention or goal in any way even though it may read like it is. So here we go haha. Even though you guys made valid points & might be proven right about the schedule in a lot of ways, I don't think any of us are multiple times state championship winning head coaches!! But the man who put the schedule together is & if he thinks this is the best thing for his team then I don't think any of us have the record to say he's wrong!! You know Coach Mac has already thought of every single thing that's been mentioned about the schedule & probably several things we haven't considered on top of it multiple times!! And he made the schedule anyway!! Mac obviously wants his guys to stay healthy, he doesn't want to go into week 7 with several guys either out or nursing bad injuries!! And he still put this schedule together!! I believe Chris McNamee is without a doubt one of the top 5 head coaches in the state of Kentucky!! If he thinks this is the path his team needs to take to get to where they want & need to be then it most likely is!! There's a reason he's got multiple rings as a head coach & we're handing out our opinion on rivals. haha. Ive been coming on Rivals since 2006 guys so I'm not knocking anyone that's on here!! What I am saying is that Coach knows better than us & he made this schedule for a reason!! We're right to question & challenge his decisions!! Again, I'm not saying we shouldn't!! This schedule may very well end this season before it even starts if injuries start piling up & we all know how fast they can happen throughout the team!! But they can also make it through just fine & completely healthy!! If the panthers enter week 7 with the team intact & in good health I think most of us will be shocked!! Coach Mac won't be, he will have just spent 8 weeks putting another panther team in position to contend for, or even win & bring home another championship!! I won't be shocked either because I know whatever that man does in any way related to Pikeville football is what needs to be done. Even when he makes his mistakes, which he has, it ends up being a net positive for the program because he learns from the loss & uses it down the road!! I know the Pikeville fans in this thread love & respect Mac in a very huge way!! I know you're not coming on here to take a crap on him or anything like that!! I know you believe & have faith in him as much as the next guy. You just want to Pikeville to have the best chance they can go have a shot at winning later in the playoffs!! Well that's exactly what coach is doing with this schedule!! We may not understand it but you can get your last dollar he does & that's all that matters!! Chris McNamee the head coach of the Pikeville Panthers for a very good reason!! It's gonna be ok guys!! If we come out of it healthy you already know the advantages that come with us!! If God forbid we end up with half the starters either out or barley hanging on it's because Mac was doing what needed to be done to put his guys in a position to chase another title & it didn't work out!! I hope you guys know I'm not throwing off on any of you!! Believe me I thought the same thing when I seen the schedule!! How are we gonna make it through this while?! Then I remembered that Mac knows what he's doing & how it needs to be done!! Hopefully no one took me the wrong way or thinks I'm a jerk..... believe me, enough people have me already hahaha

I don’t think so Bac. I think Upike is hosting one on the Panthers home turf and they’re just gonna compete local. But I’m not 100% sure.

Definitely no need to go anywhere when have one local. I saw the bracket for EKU earlier. Hazard is the only Class 1A team there. There were many teams there last year in 1A.
