Got kickoff fever. The only cure for it is found on 8/22 in Louisville.

Without knowing the Pikeville roster (if no transfers in or out), that’s a rough schedule for Pikeville. They lost a lot. They have great talent behind a lot of the players lost but they lost championship experience. Also may have lost a few problems. Very hard to guess what this team will look like come playoff time. They could be the team to beat or have a down year. Every team on their schedule could beat them. CAL, JC, and Belfry would be considered upset wins I would think. Cabell Midland, Powell Co, Paintsville look like winnable games but not to be overlooked. Not sure what Southwestern will look like with some new staff but that will be competitive. Hazard is improving and will be a tough game there. Raceland returned the bulk of their team. Bracken Co has a stud RB. Could be 8-2 or 7-3 range or could be 3-7 range. I’m interested. Don’t think the Head Coach comes back to lose.

8/22 at CAL
8/30 vs Cabell Midland (PCB)
9/5  vs Raceland
9/12 at Johnson Central
9/19 at Belfry
9/26 vs Powell County
10/3 at Pulaski Southwestern
10/10 BYE
10/17 vs Paintsville
10/24 at Hazard
10/31 vs Bracken County

The Panthers will have a 10-game schedule.

If Bracken County has a solid season, and I think the game will be good, I will make the trip from Brooksville to Pikeville to watch this one.

I’m gonna assume that number should grow by a lot.

Agree. Still early. families on vacation, etc. Wouldn't be surprised to see those numbers swell to around 50 or better to start the season.
I don’t think they will make it to 45 on the roster.
With what they graduated…what they return…what they bring in with that 8th grade group. They will have to have 45 or more I’d think. Unless more kids have departed. Which I would be shocked if that’s the case.

Please tell us how you could possibly know that this early. Ar a certain point in time your posts went from positive to totally negative. Almost sounds like you or a family member used to be associated with the Pikeville program and it's no longer the case.
Stating facts isn’t being negative JP just because I’m not blowing smoke up everyone’s butt claiming Pikeville will blow through 1A year in and year out. I thought they should have won it last year and still do. Things happened. Numbers are down this year and you’ll see that.

Too early to state facts, you are stating your opinions which again turned very negative from positive all at once for some reason.

And you didn't bother to answer any of my questions so I will ask you directly: were you or a family member ever directly involved with the Pikeville program in the past and are you or a family member directly involved with the Pikeville program now. Simple yesses or no's. You sound to me like someone who was involved and has moved on.
I counted last night I believe 39 with the departure of the Ferguson boys. They had 22 so if all those freshmen come in they should be at 61.
Also no one is blowing smoke up anyone's butt claiming Pikeville will blow through 1A every year. No Pikeville fan would claim that and no Pikeville fan would falsely state that Pikeville fans are claiming it.

Plus the transfer from Betsy Layne so if your numbers are right that's 62. If Pikeville ends up with 40-45 out it could be the start of a significant slide, which is almost impossible to believe with the 8th grade class from last year and all the young talent on the varsity last year.

With the exception of the Ferguson brothers I counted 31 returning, and "IF" those 22 Freshmen coming in , all decide to play that would be 53 on the roster. We know that could vary with transfers possibly coming in and going out, and some of that Freshmen group just might opt out this season. Bac may be right with the number he came up with....don't know. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

So Parsons is playing? I thought the talk he wasn’t going too?
In other news, did I see somewhere there is 7 on 7 at Shelby Valley today or is that bad info? Looked like some good teams going to be there from what I read.

^ Is he gonna get a shot at quarterback or is Pikeville 100% going with Reynolds.
Reynolds is the QB you can take that to the bank.
Not all from last years 8th group are playing this year. I’m figuring prolbably 5-7 aren’t playing this year. I was at practice Thursday night and I don’t recall seeing the kid from BL but he could’ve been there and I just didn’t notice. There is also 5-6 for sure that weren’t there Thursday eve due to being out of town for various reasons. I’m thinking it will be mid to upper 40’s number wise. Still a couple rumors swirling about a couple new additions too.
Also JP, even if those numbers are mid to upper 40’s, don’t expect much of a slide. By late Oct Pikeville will be fine and the next 4-5 years look out 1A.

Mid 40’s isn’t bad for a Single A school, we’ve just gotten spoiled having 60+ the last few years.

Thank you oh great voice of reason.
One more thought and it's back to the day job ..
Really looking forward to watching some of the freshmen getting quality PT this season.
