Pump the brakes. They came out of nowhere this year. Let's see how they do with a target on their back next year.
Not really an accurate statement, Sayre didnt come out of no where, just no one followed Sayre to pay attention. You could see the progression the program was making, but it was against lower talent teams and no one really looked at them.
Everybody followed Sayre and knew they always got drilled as soon as they played a good team. Big props to them for getting past that in a huge way

I’ve had a few hours to think about it. It sucks. I was really upset and frustrated. But I’d rather be tasting silver again, coming in 2nd place, and dropping yet another title game, than sitting at home reading about it or watching it online. Thank you to the seniors for all you put into this season. This team was supposed to be a rebuild but we reloaded instead and got closer than we have before. We know what it takes to get there, that’s expectation now. We just gotta get to that next level. Sayre was a really good football team that was extremely well coached offensively. None of it makes me feel any better, but this team was really fun to watch.

Adult mad and not even playing the game both teams played a great game both teams left it on the field heck both teams had a amazing year start of season neither one was even supposed to be there you all taking the fun out of it for the kids it is a game congratulations to Sayre on the ship you all have the coach of the year in my opinion

Great game by Sayre today. They had a gameplan to stop and contain our running game, and other than a few big gains we busted they held our running game in check. Sayre has a really athletic team and were the older team today and sometimes that goes a long way. If my calculations are correct, Raceland returns 8 starters on defense next year and 9 starters on offense? They are going to be just fine. Great run this year.

I have an incredibly hard time believing that Sayre had an older team!!! Nice try spinning it that way though. Lambs are known for hold back high. Try another excuse!!!

6 seniors to 2. So 3/1. That's basic math. AND I didn't even pay the 30k tuition Sayre charges to figure that one out. That's public school education!

I am glad the missed pass interference didn't change the outcome. Sayre beat the 3 favorites to win class A. Pikeville, Campbellsville, and Raceland. They earned it. Those 3 will be hyped preseason next year as well. Sayre loses a lot of playmakers but keeps their lines mostly intact I think so if they have some upcoming talent or some transfers, they could be a factor again if Pennington stays there. His youngest son takes the reins at QB next season. With Sayre winning 1A this year this only helps with the transfers and they will probably reload big time.Sayre could be the future team in 1A

Yes. I never said Raceland had less seniors than Pikeville in 2023 at any point in time. My response was because Beagle1 refuted my claim that Raceland will be just fine, and that Sayre had a more experienced team. He said he found it hard to believe that statement. So I proved it to him. That was it.
Raceland WILL be fine. They had the ball with 5:00 to go, down by 5 points to an undefeated team who has a kid that is committed to Lousiville. And this is with a team that starts 3 seniors on defense and 2 seniors on offense (When Stiltner is healthy it was 1 senior on offense). It's not the end of the world. Anyone who doesn't think Raceland will be one of the absolute top 3 teams in Class A next year is nuts.

Like I said ….ive seen the last three championship games and the team with the better player on the field has won all three. I’ve always been told you can’t win at football with one good player. The last three years have debunked that theory. I’m beginning to think In class A football there isn’t enough second tear players on any team to offset one dynamic player.
12-07-2024, 11:18 AM
Don't buy the one best player arguments at all. Anthony was a great player for sure, but Pikeville defense held Raceland to 1 TD in 2 championship games. That's 11 players right there.

Coffman ….i believe that’s his name…was the difference maker more on defense then on offense. Yes he had three touchdowns but he played one hell of a game on defense

This is true, however they are going to continue to get transfers because its the only real place in the area with a chance to win one. That along with the development of actual Raceland kids will always put them in serious contention. Barring re-alignment or bumping them up to 2A (which will never happen) they should have more opportunities.
12-07-2024, 12:24 PM
The defensive unit held Raceland to 9 points in 2 years. The biggest defensive plays were 4th down stop/strip and score by C Wright and Stevens in 22 and interception by S Wright and 4th down sack by Anderson last year. Everybody on those defenses played great. Not to mention offensive plays like Duty to Hensley on last play of first half in 22 for TD and many others. Anyway team with the single best player wins isn't a thing and I'd say 99% of people agree.

Defense 101- don’t let their best player beat you, especially a WR. I understand sometimes a RB and OL can overpower a defense but you can scheme for a WR and not allow them to dominate a game.

Tell them what? There’s a famous clip of Belichick literally telling Chad Johnson before the game he was getting doubled the whole game. Excellent WR’s can sometimes be a cheat code for offenses, but allowing Coffman to free release and run into open spaces in the defense got Raceland beat.
