Prestonsburg is deeper than BL at the skill positions, but the complete opposite on the line.

To me it’s about like if a kid left Belfry to go over and play at Pike Central. Pburg used to be on the level that Belfry, Pikeville, and Johnson Central are now. But that was a while ago and none of the kids in school now can remember those days. To them all they know is Betsy Layne has been the top team in Floyd. County. Heck I’m sure most of them don’t remember South Floyd and Allen central being a school. And why are they leaving without ever giving the new coach a shot? Do they not like him and the staff?Prestonsburg used to be very good. And had several years where they were outstanding and legit title contenders. But they have never ever been on the level of Belfry/Pikeville in point in their program/school history in football consistently (more than a couple years at a time here and there).

It would only be like belfry kids leaving for pike central if pike central beat them twice in a year.

Every head coach had to have a start somewhere. And unfortunately for Prestonsburg in its current state, it’s a great place for a young new head coach to begin his career.
The past few years Prestonsburg hasn’t been that high profile job; if it was, then you would’ve had some high profile candidates…the job would’ve recruited a coach itself instead of DrJudge making phone calls begging to apply.
I would just say, sit back, relax and enjoy the show and quit blaming other people for in house mistakes and take responsibility for your own actions.
Let Hager build his own program and legacy…support the kid….if anyone on here thought they could do the job then you should apply. If not, then keep your fingers off the keyboard.

Are you really having a hard time seeing the big picture here? I think you are more intelligent than that. It would not have been a big deal if the entire team had taken off, but for the coach to abandon the team, go on vacation, and expect his team to continue give their blood, sweat, and tears while he is laying on the beach somewhere??? What kind of message does that send to his team, especially he being a first year coach? How can he now expect the team to go all in? He obviously isn't all in. How can he expect the players to have any respect for him now? It's sad.

I see the picture just fine, a coach that probably had a summer vacation planned before he even took the job, went on vacation after school got out and before the season started, assigned volunteer workout plans to an assistant coach while he was gone.

It's sad.
So what you are saying, is that the new coach, cant trust his players, to continue on doing what they should to get ready for the season without him present, while the asst coaches run things.
or does momma still have to wipe your butt for you too........
I guess I was wrong, you really aren't smart enough to see the picture. BTE, don't ever meant my mom on any post ever again.

^^^It's the Prestonsburg administration and football parents who need another chance, not a 1st year very young coach. Although as others have said, taking a vacation outside the dead period in your first week in your first year as a HC is an atrocious look, he will figure it out. Prestonsburg football may be unsaveable, leave the young guy alone and let him do his thing. May be your last chance for another generation or more or maybe ever.

What folks aren’t factoring in is that Prestonsburg’s field is being redone. They’ve not been able to be on it at all prior to the dead period starting so I wouldn’t put much focus on the coach going on vacation. Odds are they were only doing weightlifting for the past few weeks while the field is being resurfaced so Hager probably made out a plan for assistants to put in place.

There are multiple photographs of the team practicing on the river bank with field lines drawn. That wouldn’t have been a factor.

The missing the week of June thing is a little overblown- it’s not going to make or break his tenure. It’ll be forgot about besides the people on this board when they lose a game.

Especially when you have no quality assistants on staff who could be in charge of a high level practice.

Looked like good numbers as I drove through town today.
How did day one go?

Skills looked good prepping for 7v7. Seen a few mistakes here and there, but nothing that can't be cleaned up with more reps.
Solid amount of linemen have come out, so that's good to see.
New turf field/track ribbon cutting ceremony was this morning also. That went well also.
