Will disagree with you. Elder is probsbly the second best team in the GCL. Cov Cath should hammer Pikeville

No
Made a fortuna betting against Raceland winning a championship too
Glad to see you back Jet and I still am backing this 2nd or 3rd best team in 1A
There has been some serious sandbagging from the Pikeville faithful in this thread lol.
I don’t see where you get the sandbagging we (or most of us) just call like we see it. I haven’t read to many of the Pikeville fans saying that Pikeville is going
to lose every game but we look at the team with realistic views and see things that need to be fixed. Now if that sand bagging in Ram land this I guess we are. Now remember Blaze I said most Pikeville fans now that’s not all of them. But as always GO PANTHERS.

Elder finished the 2021 season at 6-6 and Calpreps projects them to finish this season at 3-7 and last in the GCL Elder is a good team and maybe they will exceed expectations but I think my assessment of this year's Elder team is accurate.

You gotta go with Duty,  with Birchfield and Wright , Pikeville has plenty of run game.   O line needs to give Duty time to make decisions and the world will be ok.     Gotta have a threat of a passing game to have a good running game.   Just because the other kids have a big run here and there that is not the balanced football Pikeville usually has.

Corbin was just the better team, and you underestimated them. Pikeville is the best team in 1A.

I’m just going off of what I’ve read on this thread and the Corbin thread.  After hearing everyone in the Corbin thread you would think Pikeville is going to be terrible this year which I think everyone knows isn’t true.  The fact of the matter is teams like Corbin and CovCath will throttle everyone in 1A more often than not.  The Panthers lost to Corbin by less than a TD on the road and that tells me that Pikeville is a really good team.  As far as the personnel and figuring out the QB, it’s still early and things take time to workout.  Come playoff time I look for the Panthers to be in championship form and will be a tough out for anyone in 1A.

Will this game be streamed?

You know, I don't get where anyone has painted a picture of Pikeville being down or terrible, sure there is some post that don't pick Pikeville but thats part of a opinion. Thats the beauty of seeing who is right and who is wrong. I see honestly where most still think and know that Pikeville is the team to beat in 1A but I see where there is some concern about the offense and the direction but they also trust there coach. Thats not easy at just any program because of Daddy Ball. But Pikeville seems to be trying the best fit for the team. Thats completely different. IMO....

Hopefully this game is streamed because I want to watch it too.... Go Pikeville!

I see what you are saying, the overall tone just doesn’t sound like the normal confidence I’m used to hearing from Pikeville.  That probably has a lot to do with the high level of competition they have during the regular season though.  I agree they are still the team to beat until proven otherwise.  Once they get to the 1A part of their schedule I think they will run through everyone exception of Hazard and Raceland and they they could still run through those teams as well.

Never overlook a opponent, that’s how upsets are made lol. Hazard and Raceland are quality opponents this year and won’t roll over… That’s for sure. Pikeville fans get nervous after a early loss lol. I have a message for them, it’s going to be just fine…..

I’m as huge of a Raceland fan as you are going to get and I really hope this is our year.  After seeing us against Ashland last week I feel like we are a top 3 team with Hazard and Pikeville and are capable of beating them.  It’s just hard not to be a bit reserved because I’ve seen (and played on) really good Raceland teams that fell short over the years.

As for this game, I saw CovCath live twice last year and Pikeville probably would have beaten them last year.  I know this is a new year but I think Pikeville will play them well and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Pikeville win.

Pikeville is at home and coming off a loss will definately get there attention. You never want to play a Championship team coming off a loss......Now this Covington Catholic team has a championship pedigree no doubt but they are in the rebuilding mode. I don't see them winning this game but I think it will be a game. Now, turnovers and interceptions and bad calls can play a role in the outcome but I have to give the advantage to Pikeville in this one. Raceland is in a good spot this year. If I was a Raceland coach, I would be breaking film down on a daily basis preparing for the possibles. That waiting till the week before stuff don't get it done. If you want to win a championship, it starts now..... and is a progress that will make a team game ready when it comes. I have seen teams make game plans that week of and it only to end up being massive disappointment. Belfry is a good team to see how progress over the course of a whole year can get you to where you want to be.

1st will this game be streamed, I believe that wymt does all the Pike county bowls now I maybe wrong. Still don’t see where every body says they will be terrible but do have some issues to get lined out. Definitely was not a world ending event to lose to Corbin and actually was a real physical game for both teams. I agree with the personnel and getting people where they need to be and that’s what was said (as I referred to as issues) and believe this coaching staff will do. But you said sand bagging and most was just giving (in most cases) realistic criticism which is fair. Yes I believe they can be a contender and have a good football team but all teams at this time of year has stuff to work on. Except for Raceland now don’t hysterical but right now they look more along in their potential than most teams but can be expected since they have everyone back from last years team. Just my observation on teams I have watched. Yes they have some things to work on too but they are ahead of other 1A teams. Now they haven’t played a team like Corbin either or one like Covington Catholic for that matter which probably brings out some points more so than a less talented team would. Long season Blaze and hopefully if both teams take care of business we get to play the Rams again but hopefully it’s at Kroger instead of in semifinals or before. Good luck to the Rams but as always GO PANTHERS!!!

I agree and I think that happened to us last year.  Coming into the semifinals last season we just didn’t look prepared for what Pikeville had and looked shellshocked as soon as we got off the bus and got smacked in the mouth.  An advantage Raceland may have too is that the difficulty of Pikeville’s schedule may lead to losses that can affect their RPI and chances of having home field throughout the playoffs.

I’m excited for our trip to Ft. Thomas in two weeks to play Highlands.  I think that will give us a good measuring stick to use after seeing how Pikeville plays with CovCath.  Raceland is looking very solid for sure and I think it is a collision course with us and the Panthers again in the playoffs.

I would have to agree. Highlands is a bit of a stock market team, one week there up and one week they are down. Hard to gauge them for me. But still a quality opponent to prepare for the bigger picture. I like using teams for measuring sticks but at the end of the day, the coaches who make adjustments and pay attention to details will be standing in the end. Good opponents like Highlands will do just that, give you plenty of feedback.

I have a question Bull what team on Corbin’s schedule (well the rest of their schedule) will challenge Corbin the most? Looks like it will be Franklin County is their next test.

It’s amazing how that program plummeted in such a short period of time.  I remember when they were untouchable and everyone in the state outside of the big 3 in Louisville was afraid of them.

I agree about being prepared.  That is what has really set Pikeville apart from the pack in the last few years.  Coach Mac always finds a way to get his teams ready for the playoffs and I don’t see this year being any different.

Franklin County (away game), Simon Kenton (away game) and Pulaski County are the 3 games to pay that will make or break the season for Corbin. Knox County will play hard but I don’t see it this year. But Franklin County game is a huge game for down the road because it can put you playing at home if you win or playing on the road if you lose deeper in the playoffs. Simon Kenton brings back a team worthy and played with Corbin for a half last year at Corbin. I know Pulaski was a blowout by the score but watching it in person, it was a ballgame and they exposed us in the passing attack. So Franklin and Simon Kenton is the big two. Corbin wins those games and depending on how the offense looks then 4A might have a 3 or 4 team monster games again in that 3rd round. RPI will be huge this year in 4A, all the teams will want that home field advantage….

Corbin will smoke some Franklin County hind end.

Food for thought: Simon Kenton 28-14 over Covington Catholic in a scrimmage earlier…

I think Cov Cath wins by a couple scores.
#85
Pikeville could win 3 games this season and still be the favorite to win the state title. They play a helluva schedule.
