Having Cordia ahead of Estill is laughable. Estill won that match up by 20. Also having them 5 spots below Wolfe is absurd. They have split their match ups this season. Breathitt at 4? Knott all the way down at 5? You need to do some research.

This comment here, shows me that you don't pay much attention to the region as a whole and are going off of past seasons, and Wolfe "homership." Are PCC and Hazard capable of winning the Region? No Doubt. Are they the HEAVY favorites? Absolutely, positively are not. There is no heavy favorite in this region this season. Any of the 8 teams that get to the tournament (whoever they may be) have a d*** near equal shot at winning it.

1. Hazard without a doubt has been the best team in the region this year. Have lost one game in Region and that was a 1 point loss to Perry Central.
2. Knott County. Hazard is the only team to beat them in the region this year.
3. 3 way tie with Estill,Wolfe,Perry
Estill has the best player in the region, great shooter around him and a post that can rebound
Wolfe when everyone is playing well they can be really dangerous. Have multiple players that can get 20 plus on a given night.
Perry defending region champion, till someone beats them.

I feel like those are the only 5 teams that can win 3 straight games. Several teams could win a game. But I think those 5 are the only ones that can win 3 in a row.

And I’m no Wolfe homer, I don’t cry about fouls or the clock or ft. When Wolfe gets beat it’s because they take bad shots, don’t guard and just not play together as a team.

There are multiple teams capable of winning the 14th this year. Hazard is the favorite but struggled against high pressure from Reed and Perry in the press. Coach Creech and Wolfe County are sitting around 18-8 and split with Estill and only lost to Hazard by 3. Estill has Benton and Bentley can dictate tempo almost as good as Holland at Hazard. Coach King lost McGuire which hurt a great deal but rumors are flying he will possibly return but will he be at full strength which is doubtful. I think your five favorites are Hazard, Wolfe, Estill, Perry, and Knott in no specific order. It will be a toss up and will come down to match-ups. It will be a great evenly balanced tournament.

Hazard beat Wolfe 86-70 on Feb 14th, 54-51 on Jan 8th

IMO one of these 5 teams will win the region.


1. Hazard - I think they have earned the right to be favorite going into the post season. Have played and beat all the top teams in the region. Only loss in region was in OT to PCC. Have played tough non region schedule. Have 9 wins over teams with a winning record.
2. PCC - IMO they have improved more than any team in the region from start of season until now. Reed presents a match up problem for most in the region. Added Beverly to team. Have played tough non region schedule. Only team in region to beat Hazard. Has 5 wins over teams with a winning record.
3. KCC - Home court advantage for region. When at full strength capable of winning three games in a row at home. Has 5 wins over teams with a winning record.
4. Estill - Have POY Benton and excellent coach in Bentley. Have improved as the year went on. If they can dictate pace of play, will keep games close and have a chance to win region. Has 3 wins over teams with a winning record.
5. Wolfe - Young team. Play a fast pace and willing to give up 2s on defense to make 3s on offense. Can win if they are hitting their shots. Have 2 wins over teams with a winning record.

Cordia Buckhorn and Breathitt all have talent. All good enough to beat anyone in region but not sure they can win 3 games in the region.

Leslie gets home court advantage in district vs Hazard. I don't think that is enough to pull upset.

Owsley/Powell winner will be in the region but have no chance of winning.

Hazard has to be the favorite they have played all the contenders in the region and have won all the games except for a split with Perry each winning on the others home court. Their fans and Coach hunger for a Regional championship as they have had an extended dry spell dating back 11 years . Knott They are playing at home and have to be considered a legitimate threat. They had a terrible break when their center broke his collarbone a few weeks ago. A good kid who I personally think is the best true big man in the region. They seem to have other problems as well. Fans are openly on this site questioning the P G ‘s distribution of the ball. If it is on here you can safely say there are more not on here including parents and kids associated with the team who have similar opinions. Perry they are talented enough to win the region. Their biggest hurdle could possibly be just getting out of the district. If they survive the 54th then they will be dangerous. They are the most dangerous to Hazard’s chances if they make it to the region. Estill they got over the hump a couple of years ago and have smooth sailing into the region. Their coach is excellent and they have a very good team the draw will be their biggest obstacle they will almost certainly have 2 tough games in the region and could have 3 depending on the luck of the regional draw. Wolfe can beat anyone in the region they are young and hungry. Again the draw for the regional will be crucial for them. Breathitt I don’t know if they can string 3 games together in the regional but you can bet no one wants to draw them in the regional. Buckhorn if they survive the 54th another team no one wants to draw in the regional. Cordia they have as much talent as anyone in the region just haven’t put it together. But again will be a challenge for anyone in the tournament.
