Belfry vs. Bell Co. (Class 3A Championship)
Safe travels to all. Hopefully both teams bring a heck of crowd. Make the atmosphere as great as possible.

You can change it game Day if you want. Wink
I am really excited about this game. Belfry/Bell used to be must see football, and because of the geographical alignment, there was never a chance to meet up with all the marbles on the line. It is a dream matchup for EKY fans, especially those who are Belfry or Bell Co supporters.

I love the Hilton vs Haywood story line. What more could you ask for in terms of coaching history and pedigree. These guys know each other well, but haven't faced off in more than 20 years.

Both teams will have motivation in abundance. Bell Co is trying to put an exclamation point on an incredible turn-around, and I can imagine they will be emotionally charged up and ready to rumble. Dudley is back, baby, and they want to give him his 4th title.
Belfry has had an unbelievable run since 2003, and one of the best in state history since 2010. But the Pirates haven't made it past the regional round the past couple of years and these guys have a bit of a chip on their shoulder. They are looking to prove they belong in the conversation with the other Belfry championship teams.

Neither team resembles the wishbone teams that used to face off in the 90s and have a contrast in offensive styles. On the other hand, they both will hit you hard, identify as smash mouth, mountain teams, and play solid defense. So the more things change the more they stay the same.

Friday cannot get here fast enough and having Pikeville vs Paintsville play the early game is just icing on the cake.
I said this in a post in the regular season, and its finally came to fruition!! Belfry finally gets to roll the Bobcats and send their butts back to Log Mountain! The best team in 3A all season was Desales, IMO. Belfry knocked them off on the road in a CLASSIC last week! That being said, Dudly Hilton is no stranger to this stage, and we all know Haywood isn't either. I give Bell a hard time, but I honestly think they will be over matched in this one. I am just glad to see two traditional powers battle it out in the best venue in the state. I am a bleed blue Kentucky fan, but I will be cheering on the RED team in this one.

Belfry 38

Bell 20
Is the visiting side where Belfry will be chair backs or bleachers
Belfry fan 75 Wrote:Is the visiting side where Belfry will be chair backs or bleachers

The whole lower bowl is chairbacks I believe. At least the sides are anyway.
This one will be well worth the price of admission!
jumpshooter Wrote:The whole lower bowl is chairbacks I believe. At least the sides are anyway.

Yea the whole lower part will have a back to it regardless of side. Some are bleachers I believe. I paid to get the chair back. They don’t open the upper area up for the 3A game. Which there was no need to. Corbin and Boyle have the attendance record for 3A and there was still plenty of room to spare
So the chair back are not the general admission
Belfry fan 75 Wrote:So the chair back are not the general admission

depends on how you define chair backs, the Woodford reserve sections in the middle of the home side are theater type chair backs but the rest of the sidelines on the lower bowl are the bleachers with the backs on them.

Big difference is we’re decided underdogs we’re supposed to lose y’all we’re heavy favorites and blowed the game especially the last one

Which game are you talking about? I can't remember Belfry being a heavy favorite in the Championship game and then blowing it.

2007 is the only time I would say Belfry entered as a decided favorite and lost. Belfry had beat Johnson Central convincingly and JC had romped Central.

2010- Belfry was a pretty mediocre football team and got steam rolled by the heavily favored Central team.

2011- On the heels of 2010, Central was a heavy favorite with everyone making running clock predictions and Belfry almost knocked them off.

2012- Everyone expected a tight game and that is what they got.

Now if we want to talk 2008 Semi-Finals when Breathitt upset Belfry, that may be a different story?
Belfry 36+

Last time I checked, Bell is the favorite, Bell is ranked #1. There is no difference.
Bell is the favorite because of the #1 seed and Bell County fans have said it all year
Belfry is a 6 point favorite based off what i seen online

2007 came to mind but he said "y'all were heavy favorites then blowed (sic) the game, especially the last one" indicating something recent. Belfry has played in 7 championship games since 2007.

This will be our 9th championship game appearance since 2007.
As fabled as these 2 coaches have become through the years I think they deserve a good story for the matchup. Hope y’all enjoy!

The Old Cat the Captain and the Cannon:

Once upon a time the old Captain brought his ships south in search of a lesser treasure than the one he seeks now. At the time the Captain had not obtained any large treasures of which he now possesses 6. In those days there were only 4 Kingdoms so obtaining the largest treasure from each was even more rare than today.
When the ships arrived south the Captain found himself in the Den of The Old Cat. He knew this Old Cat well by then and had battled him on a few occasions. These battles had been fought in the Cats Den once or twice and once which was their oldest fight occurred in a different kingdom.
This time when the Captain entered the Den he was well prepared for battle. But the Old Cat knew the Pirates where coming and had prepared his pride well. The Cats took position and fought fiercely. They weaved and dodged, fighting tooth and nail. The Pirates slashed back with their swords and fired their muskets. But not once had they touched a hair on a single cat. And by no means had they even spied any treasure.
The battle raged on and on with no end in sight. The Wise Old Cat sent his pride in for several attacks, even resorting to attacking from the trees on occasion. But for each attack the Pirates would fire their muskets and slash their swords sending the pride back to the bushes. Though the Pirates had came no where near entering the depths of the Den that contained the treasure they came seeking.
The Old Captain was becoming weary and had developed concern for his crew. They had fought as heroically as he had ever asked them to fight. But those cats led by the Wise Old One just wouldn’t give an inch. They were fast and large Cats with very big claws and dang sure knew how to use them. They were also very prideful cats that always seemed to know the moves their enemy would make.
That’s when the Old Captain came up with his last plan as the battle was now a matter of Do or Die. The Captain talked to his crew and decided that they would try to end it all at once. The cats were poised and ready to pounce in order to deflect a head on attack. BOOOOM! The cannon fired! The cats where shocked, they had never even seen the Cannon. Didn’t even think the Pirates knew how to load one. But it was too late, the Cannon struck its target and the Pirates rushed the Den while the cats where still in disbelief.
The Old Captain had done it, he secured the treasure. The crew loaded on the ships and sailed back home. But the battle had taken its toll. Many crewmen where tired and they simply weren’t ready for the next battles to come.
The question now is when the Old Cat and The Captain meet in the new age. Who will obtain the treasure. The Pirates have perfected their attacks and are rarely ever fooled by any foe. The Wise Captain has obtained many treasures since that old battle.
The Old Cat has returned to the Den and has his pride in top form for attack. He’s also learned many new tricks since the old battle occurred. For as most who remember that battle knows the Pirates and the Cats fought in very similar fashion. Always head on tooth and nail, sword and musket. But nowadays the Cats spend more time in the trees looking for holes in there foes defenses. Always attacking when their foe isn’t looking. But it won’t be often that the Pirates will blink.

I thought bossdaddy was a corbin man this little dig was meant for Corbin fans much like hound 05 always gets his dig in on Bell. But it was all in fun nothing but respect for Belfry and yes they are a considerable favorite based on this thread
Good luck Belfry, I will be pulling for you in this one! Belfry 20-14
jax Wrote:Agree. I got nothing but respect for Belfry. Who knows how it'll end up. I just like being the underdog!

You guys are 13-0, with the highest RPI so that kinda puts the favorite beside your school 🙂

There’s a lot of Belfry fans on this board and quite a few that are not stirring the pot 😂

But as I said earlier, the game isn’t played on a message board and you’ll not hear a True Belfry Fan disrespect any opponent.

Bell will not need to score 36 to win. Bell by 1. Should be a slugfest.

The entire lower bowl is bench back seating except for the Keeneland Club seating which is chair backs but will be located on the Bell County side of the stadium under the press box. THE Belfry side will be the closest to BCTC

I don’t see either team scoring in the 30s in this game, gonna be a lot of running the ball and the clock is gonna turn fast. I wouldn’t be shocked if this game finishes in about 2 hours.
I’m pulling for the underdog in the game. Go pirates!!!!! All year that “#1” was right next to bell in every thread title. Even though they are supposed to win this game, I think belfrys D will be to much for them to put up the points they’ll need to take down the pirates.
