She is the best big girl....when you ARE getting beating by big girls YOUR best has to be on the floor. Napier didn't have her out there. She has the seniority, needs to play.

Now I understand

Not going to argue with Snow. We played hard but came up short. Congratulations to Knott they were the best team last night and deserved to win. We have a great group of girls, not just players, great kids. I'm proud of them all. I still say Proffitt is the best individual player in the mountains maybe the state. Just my opinion
#34
I thought it would come down to free throw shooting and it did. Knott shot them really well tonight. They are playing their best basketball of the year. Very physical game, Knotts big girl played really well. Perry really struggled to score in the 3rd. Best player in the mountains, I'm saying Blair Green, Jordan Brock close #2.
#35
Congrats to KCC and Coach Honeycutt! You both have taken abuse and have overcome.
#36
You named two really good players. I'm sure other people would say Kash or Gibson or several others. I've watched Proffitt more than others so I may be biased, but how can you argue with her stats
#37
I'm not arguing stats. Her stats are great. Is she one of the top players in the 14th, yes no doubt. Is the 14th the weakest region in the state? Probably...Green and Brock are just better players in the mountains. Now when you talk state I don't put Green or Brock in that conversation. Robinson- Mercer, Jeffries -Butler, Stewart- Franklin County are my top three..
#38
Snow Wrote:So knott won because they was allowed to push and shove?
you're just always wanting to argue !! Ref's ,on how they call ,dictate style of play , in kcc's case rough physical games play is a plus for Kcc that's when there at their best! If that style of play is allowed by the refs ,the Kcc is state bound,if not Leslie will win!
#39
There is a ton of talent in the state right now so it would be very hard to make a list without an argument. Penn-Butler, Duvall- Bullitt East, Robbins-Mercer, Robinson-Ashland, Niece-Simon Kenton, Stewart-Franklin, Berger-Sacred Heart are just a few not from the mountains

Very well said. You just gave the best analysis of this game. No other comments needed.
#41
New o you are correct. I think our local fans need to get out of this area and take a look at some of these kids to make fair comparisons..You know the King girl from Lincoln is in the conversation she just gets overlooked at times because of all the talent in the 12th..
#42
King is a great shooter! She is on UL's radar. Like you said the 12th region is loaded! Mercer's junior class all will play D1. Pulaski SW, Danville, Wayne, Pulaski, etc..... all have some very good players.
#43
It's true I don't get to watch players all over the state. I wish I could because I love the game, but, time, and money keep me from doing it. The only measuring stick I have is stats and Proffitt definitely has the numbers to prove me out. My thinking is that people from these other regions need to come to the mountains and give our kids some more looks. Example: We had the premiere player in the state last year, no arguing, no excuses. Did she win miss KY basketball? No she did not. Why? Because of where she played. Please don't discount our kids talents just because of where they play
#44
Crèech was/is a great player but do not forget that Boley won Ms. Basketball because she was the best player. Boley is currently playing for Notre Dame. Let's face it they are not going to come to the mountains to watch these girls so these girls need to get out and be seen. They can do that by playing summer ball or have their coach play teams outside the mountains.
#45
Coaches don't go to schools to watch players very much nowadays. Most of their observations are made during the AAU summer circuit.

Now, if they target a player during the summer they may come to a few games during the season to let them know they want them and to not lose them to another school. But as far as knowing the talent, they already know about it before the season begins.

I agree Brock is special and Green is a very good player, but Proffitt and Brock see chasers every game and Proffitt sees it every possession and for these girls to put up the numbers they do is very impressive. Proffitt and Brock are the best two in the mountains.

Playing aau is a money racket and if players have to pay to be seen then it's wrong but that's the way life is.

Unfortunately college coaches find it easier to watch all of their targets in one gym. HS coach can help by making calls and playing in big tournaments.

new o Wrote:Unfortunately college coaches find it easier to watch all of their targets in one gym. HS coach can help by making calls and playing in big tournaments.

I agree it's easy for coaches but still a money racket like I said we have to live with it but that don't make it right
#50
I suggest pick a few schools and attend their elite camps if not playing AAU. Get to know the staff and be seen!
#51
Heard both good and bad when it comes to AAU. I agree with both new o and baller you can get exposure but it can also be a money racket..I guess it really depends on what program you go with and if you are playing on a team that does get college looks.. Parents have to walk a fine line there. The elite camps can get you on campus and around the staff but sometimes that is a money racket too.. Welcome to the new age of recruiting and sports I guess..
#52
It's definitely not a fair gauge of talent the AAU coaches decide what players get showcased. It also makes for selfish play. Any player wanting to stand out learns to ignore the team game. Camps are good but a money racket for sure. If you have parents or people with knowledge of the game willing to spend time on the kids, and a player willing to work is the best route in my opinion. That's not reall doable in most cases so you're back to my argument that a players stats are really important
#53
Stats can be so misleading though.. If a kid averages 40pts a game playing against weak competition is that really an indicator of their true ability.. ? I would think college coaches are looking at more than just stats. Can you play defense? Do you play hard every possession? Are you a good teammate? Can you be coached? So much more to game than stats...
#54
I have had nothing but good things happen for my daughter in AAU. Her team this past summer was the most unselfish group of girls she has ever played and there were several D1 kids on it. She has also had great experiences with elite camps. The biggest thing coaches tell me that they look for is can you make teammates better.
#55
I'm sure there are countless things that go into recruiting a player or not. The casual fan does not have access to all the information and wouldn't know what most of it meant if we had it. I go by watching players play and if a girl averages 30 that tells me she is a scorer. I look at free throw % rebounds assists 3 point % and wins and losses. I'm no genius but I still think this gives me a pretty good picture of a players skill
#56
Agreed AAU is nothing but money racket. Not sure why college coaches think that's a good show. It's -the girl that gets it shoots it- no one plays team ball. There's a lack of practices, no structure. I'd focus on the elite college camps. Screw aau
#57
How many D1 offers Proffit got?

Can she go left as good as she can go right? Can she shoot over 37% from three point line with elite defenders guarding her? Can she guard a elite player with foot speed? Is her RPG more than her GPA? What position does she play and how big is she? Whats her points vs shot taken percentage?

When you talk about elite kids these are just a few things that needs to be asked.
#58
AAU is not for everyone for sure. But for my daughter it is a great deal of fun and has helped her prepare by playing against great competition.

Folks Knott was the best team all year. Perry did not play a great schedule and Knott become the team they should have been all year.
