15th region realignment

If they stay in the 60th it's nothing but politics pure and simple. It's almost two hour drive for kids and families.

Let's see here.....it's bad for Phelps to travel to Lawrence.....bare with me on this:

Jackson County HS - 2 hr 59 min
Riverside Christian - 2 hr 25 min
Raceland - 2 hr 31 min
Fairview - 2 hr 18 min

These are some of the games that Phelps has on their basketball schedule this year. Notice that they are ALL further than coming to Lawrence....which is just ONE TRIP per season (and they play the girls/boys on the same night to cut down on travel, correct?)

Travel should not be used for any justification for anything. These 15th region teams all play each other anyways, and secondly, as sighted above, teams go WAAAYYY further than that to play other teams.

Everyone gets to play in the regional tournament. However, not everyone has to earn it!
I at first thought it a good ideal, but in reality it cheapens the games much like the first couple of rounds in football. The revenue from the 1st round won't make any difference because they will be poor competition. Should just leave it alone and be done with it. It has worked for fine for 100 years.

In 2 years it will be:

57th-Johnson Central Paintsville Sheldon Clark Magoffin Co & Lawrence Co
58th-Prestonsburg Betsy Layne Floyd Central Piarist (David School will join next year)
59th-East Ridge Shelby Valley Jenkins Letcher Central
60th-Belfry Phelps Pike Central & Pikeville

Why would this happen ? That leaves a 3 team district in the 53rd district in the 14th
