Mayfield 2016
#31
Not official but I heard from a parent that the Milan scrimmage was at Saturday, 6:30 pm , August 6th
#32
I have a senior on the team and as far as he knows it's still on Fri.
#33
According to a coach I talked to it is Sat. the 6th.

It has been moved to Sat due to needing one more practice before being able to scrimmage
#35
I was just about to post that. I finally got text from Coach Dew. He said he just heard of it today. I guess that's why mine didn't know. I guess we need to update Red Helmet Club page as well.

So killer in the sun, mayfieldsportsfan, and mayfield cardinal all knew about the scrimmage being moved to Saturday before 55. 55 you have been demoted to the waterboys backups backup. Guess I better keep hanging out with mayfield cardinal, and mayfieldsportsfan if i want to attend mayfield games. They might not let me in if I'm seen associating with 55. Sounds like they are on the verge of kicking 55 out, probably wait till your son graduates then your banned completely.:letsfight

I think we all hope that.

What if Tilghman can't beat Mayfield?
What if McCracken can't beat Tilghman?
What if Mayfield can't beat McCracken?

Will they do away with the Kickoff in Football?

I am fairly confident even 64SUR knew the scrimmage was moved before 55 Big Grin

I'm sure 64 did. He is one our biggest booster club supporters, monetarily wise.

Mayfield will get a stern test next Saturday against Milan, Tn.. The Bulldogs just scrimmaged 5A power Henry Co to a 7-7 tie, both teams scoring late. They lost 1 lineman from last year on both sides of the ball. There starting RB from last year, who got hurt, midway thru the season, returns, along with his replacement, who rushed for over 1000 yards in relief and impressed in several camps he attended and he's getting some D1 looks. Even with those guys returning, their D is there strongest asset and expecting to be outstanding on that side of the ball. They have 30 seniors on this years roster and are supposedly bigger, stronger and deeper than they've been in a long time. Fans saying anything less than a state championship appearance will be a disappointment.

Win or lose, the Cards should learn a lot about their team in this one.
#44
Well that sounds good. I remember it wasn't such a good season last year for the Bulldogs. I will still take the Cardinals, who didn't have such a rough time with them last year.
#45
Saw practice this morning, mayfield looks to have speed, but I seen to many dropped passes that hit receivers right in the hands. Hopefully they improve that.

We didn't exactly dominate them last year. The final was 17-7. They ended up 9-4 last year and was riding an 8 game winning streak going into the 3rd round of the playoffs, where Liberty beat them for the 2nd time of the season.

The varsity portion was pretty one sided last year. You must have missed some while at the concession stand. Regardless, I can't wait until Saturday.

Milan will be a handful, the Jackson Sun and Coach T are great places to learn more about the Purple Bulldogs. The scrimmage last week with Henry Co, TN, ended in a tie. That alone should tell a great deal about them. Henry Co is the lone W TN team that most years might be to much for Mayfield to handle so if they can play with them we better be bringing our A game

Who in this mayfield thread wants to be on the panel...

Well, this is my take from tonight's scrimmage versus Milan. I think the Bulldogs are much better than last year and may make a run at state. I don't think they stopped our offense all night. That being the varsity part. Our offense looked scary good. They looked to be almost as good as 2010. The line dominated. The backs did well and Trajon barely played. The recievers were lights out. Landon was on target every time. You can tell Hatchell is back. Our varsity defense dominated at least until Arnett and Hurt both went out sick. We didn't even use Tapia because his leg brace isn't in yet. Our kicking game needs work.

I think the jv struggled on offense and defense. If I had this scored right, we had 8 touchdowns to their 7. However 3-4 of theirs were by the jv and our jv only had 1. We were outsized but, for once, our line looks big.

U get my pm 55.

My thoughts on scrimmage

Was good to see KillBill who donated a banner similar to his avatar! Well done Kilbill! Nice thread on the scrimmage on our sister TN web forumn CoachT.

The Cards O was a thing of beauty and the D is close! Milan will be a top 5 TN team this year from what I hear

Great to see you again! Guess I shouldn't have changed my avatar, but I like that old banner and scoreboard.

Great to finally meet the legend 55. Glad to see all those new banners.

Killbilly, you should plan on tailgating every home game. You should also try to make our Fri morning breakfasts.

I watched 1 game years ago from the tailgating area. I definitly prefer the view from the stands. If there is good food i might stop by on the way in to see a game lol. What time are these breakfast. Im in Mayfield every Friday morning at 8am.

Just curious 55 and usmc did either one of you guys dress in the Milan game. Seem like a lot of scoring and no defense. Confusednicker:
